What do you think about Amiibo? I think that they are awesome like nintendo skylanders but better, but there are some things i dont like, like the one game per amiibo thing what do you guys think are they good or not so good

Well I think they're good. They work for multiple games, they'll work for both 3DS & WiiU, for what they cost they do quite a lot of nifty stuff considering we likely don't know what they're all gonna offer us in the long run. I got sucked into the Toys R Us deal which somehow worked out to a buy 2 get 1 free, I got Mario, Yoshi and Link. They already work with MK8 & Smash Bros, and the Link one soon will do Hyrule Warriors things, and on top of it all they're cool little collectables. $13 for 1, you may end up getting more out of it than a $20 eShop card for some DLC depending on which ones you get. I don't regret buying them, it'll be fun to explore the options they offer now and will offer eventually.

Tbh I went to 3 stores near one another to look and see if they all had the same Amiibo, cause I couldn't find a handful, and I was surprised to see how many people had already scavenged a portion of the shelves. It took me an hour to get back to the first store and this one girl was still there looking at each one individually to see which one "looked the best because she didn't like the faces on these"

I'm mixed on them.

They look 'OK'. They've got decent enough designs, but some design choices make me think "what the hell?", such as those dirty yellow support beams. I know they're necessary for keeping the figures in tact when you're travelling, but they should really be optional/removable considering some people won't take them to other places and if it's just sat on a shelf most of the time, I can't imagine the support beam helping in any way.

Aside from that though, they're arguably as good looking as the Disney Infinity 2.0 figures (I thought 2.0 figures had more quality). They're a little bigger though, and I thought Disney Infinity sized figures were perfect for traveling around.



As for their use?

So far we only really know their use for Smash Bros, and I'm very skeptical that it's going to be as good as advertised. They're going to 'learn from you' and become better fighters? Eh, I really doubt that. If anything, I imagine they're going to be the equivalent of '11 difficulty setting' or something. If this is the case, I'm not happy paying ?10 a pop for extra difficulty settings of characters.

Everything else so far seems to just be novelty items or costumes...Again, I'm not convinced.

Their use seems really uncertain at this point, and I'm skeptical about them still being a thing this time next year.




I'm going to get Kirby, Yoshi and Sheik though as they're my mains.

Not each of the support beams are yellow. Most are white/clear, Pit & Fox have blue and Zelda has a purple one.

But I agree with above, it's dependent on which ones you get as to what they're going to do. Link, Yoshi, and Mario have purpose but what the heck are half the others gonna do... they're obviously going to become more obscure in a few months.

To be honest, I think I would have actually preferred them to work more like Skylanders and Disney Infinity than what how they currently work. It seems like they would have more of a use at least.


I imagine Nintendo characters fitting into Disney Infinity as well though. It would be pretty neat if they released a patch for the WiiU version that allowed you to use Amiibo in Disney Infinity.

They just unlock the racing suit for your Mii relevant to the Amiibo character.

i thought amiibo were cool but now theyre **** like you're literally paying $15 for a ****ing computer player with a better AI like what a ****ing waste?? and then in other games you get.... o0o0o000o0o000oO00o0o0O0o0Oo0O000o0O UNLOCKABLES WOW like no i don't care

hopefully the second series will be better but the smash bros series looks so ****ing stupid IMO
