Does anyone know how to get Amiibo villagers to not move in to the house they're replacing? I have two who moved way too close to my house, and I want them out so I can put some lamps or something there to make sure no one does that again, but no matter what I try they won't leave my town. If I try to replace them with another Amiibo character then they just move into the same plot of land, regardless of how many times I do the new character loading trick.

I've never had them move into the same spot as the one they're replacing.

If you put down some paths in places that you don't want to move, then they can't go there. You just have to make sure some 3x3 spots are open for them to possibly move into.

Fill your town with paths. Don't make it like a checkerboard, to be sure, because people tend to overlook some areas whenever they make it this way (don't forget to leave space on where you want them to be) and make sure to cover those spot with flowers and trees. Use new save file to plot reset. There's a chance that they might plot on the same spot where your previous villager was, since you won't have time to cover it with paths, but there's also a chance that they might change places in just a few tries, so be patient. Good luck!

@Role: Well, you don't have to cover every open spot, as long as there is at least one pattern on each 3x3 spot, you're safe. When I plot resetted this way, I covered my town in a way where it seemed like I had stepping stones all over my town, when I was really preventing villagers from moving there.

What Role meant was to completely fill the town with patterns in case a spot is overlooked, which often happens when people try to place patterns only every 3x3 spot. It's just more of a fail safe to prevent silly mistakes.

Yes, this exactly.
Thank you so much for clarifying, Arize ^-^
