So- say you wanted a specific villager thats ONLY available via amiibo card. Yet you cant afford to get that card...

Lets use ?toile for this example

Im aware you can't go to another persons rv park to ask her to move in, but what if shes moving out of their village (in boxes)???

You can only adopt (from other players) the Welcome Amiibo "50 returning villagers", not the special villagers like the Sanrio ones, even if the special villagers are in boxes. I think? Filly (7/11) also falls under special villagers you can't adopt. You also can't adopt Felyn and the Legend of Zelda characters. Yeah so basically only the 50 returning villagers. If you want the special characters you must obtain their amiibo or card.

Ganon is giving me the option to let him move in. This is after I scan Ganondorf. Looks like you need the figure or card.

Yeah like others have said, Nintendo wants as much money as possible so they made the villagers they knew everyone would want impossible to adopt unless you have their respective card or figure. It's really quite greedy, especially when you consider the cards and figures aren't cheap and some weren't even released in the United States (aka the Sanrio card set). The other villagers that can only be moved in via amiibo card or figure are the LoZ villagers (W. Link, Ganon, Epona, and Medli), the Splatoon villagers (Cece, Viche, and Inkwell), and the Monster Hunter villager (Felyne). Luckily there are stores online such as Etsy that sell the chip part of the Sanrio amiibo cards at pretty reasonable prices, but for the figures it's likely you'll have to pay quite a bit.

Yeah, that is ridiculous now that I know some Amiibo villagers are adoptable while others are not! :/ I'm glad Amiibo work for other games though to make them worth while! :)

Okay, ty for the answers guys! I wasn't sure and i cant afford the etsy ones so- i guess ill get it sometime in the future lol...

Yeah, it's kind of a lost cause at this point to find authentic AC amiibo/sanrio stuff for decent prices. Even the Etsy stuff is getting a bit pricey. :( You might have better luck on ebay, like Reginald Fairfield said. Either way, I hope you get who you're looking for. :)

I honestly wish you younger players had a function to see things with objective view, aka from both sides. It's not a matter of greed but just a matter of royalties and contract.

I'm more perplexed that they didn't make enough to keep up with demand for this stuff--the crazy prices are largely from the resale market, because there weren't enough amiibos made to keep up with the demand for them. Nintendo could have made a lot more money if there were more RV amiibo cards out there--instead it's resellers who are pocketing most of the profit.

Yuuuuuup, I've heard from friends who collect Amiibo of various kinds that this has been a problem since the Amiibos were first introduced. Small supply, ton of demand, and the only people it really benefits are resellers. Now there is a pretty healthy market of people who make knock-off Amiibo which is great for those of us coming into the Amiibo game late but if you're a serious collector of these things, the knock-off isn't going to cut it.

I'm just glad that I've still been able to get reasonable prices on regular Amiibo card packs, but I still have to order online!

Yeah, I feel weird buying the knock-offs because it feels wrong, but I'm also not willing to spend $30 on an amiibo figure or card, so you do what you gotta do if you want the AC benefits. I only started playing last year, so I missed most of the releases.
