A Twitter user found the amiibo logo on the Animal Crossing Switch bundle box. Amiibo compatibility will defintely be in New Horizons, how much compatibility is currently unknown.

Great news! I hope we get to move in villagers again using the cards, but something tells me it won't be that easy for this game.

Why are people surprised at this? It would be silly not to have it since A few major titles (at least the ones I have) have some support (Botw for materials and armor and Mario odyssey with finding moons and costumes) I know some don't like snipper clips, lm3, arms, and mm2 (at least at the moment) to name a few....

Also, that link doesn’t work for me

hopefully it's just like it was in new leaf and doesn't have any actual impact on anything 'cause man are those things a waste of money lmao

it might end up being like using the Amiibo phone in HHD?

I could just imagine calling a villager and them being like: who dis?

Either that or when we ring them, they'll be expecting a call as they too have selected the 'Island Getaway Package' and are eager to move in. I think though, this time, instead of being the next day, it could take a couple of days or a week? ✧︎*。( ?∩︎?͈ω?͈∩︎` )✧︎*。

I'm so sorry! Forgot to thank you for informing us! Thankies (○︎-艸・)*:゚・☆︎

When I preordered the switch and game yesterday, at the bottom of the game info it had "May require other games and systems".

It made me think it will connect to PC, as it can't connect to NL, or was it just a disclaimer of sorts?

I'm sure it means multi player in this regard, hence the requirement, can't play in another town if you don't have another console with the game (and the only thing PC related is a collaboration of a sort)

Ah, of course!
I didn't even think of that.

I play solo, so it never occurred to me. :)

awesome, i look forward to using my 2 villager cards in my town, i hope whitney enjoys coming to yet another town of mine haha

I want so much for the amiibos to be useable!! Confirmed could mean they just give you random items, so I'm still very worried.

I don't need villagers to immediately move in, but doing something aong the lines of a prolonged wait or even having them come for a visit and you need to impress them in order to get them to stay.

Also, I wonder about the special cross over amiibo they had like wolf link and, my favorite, the cat from monster hunter! I really hope they can come into our town again...

Amiibo function is fine but I hope we can't just move in every character. I really enjoyed the villager trading board before the cards came out. Also I don't want to collect cards again xD

I really want to be able to move in who I like.
I paid for the cards, figures, and preordered the game and switch.

I think I should be able to use the products nintendo intended (quite the tongue twister! :) ) to be used for that purpose.

And, it's my island.

So long as there’s no content locked behind the Amiibo, sure. Though Nintendo haven’t done that for quite a while (was Breath of the Wild the last time?) so it’ll probably just be faster unlocks/bringing in specific villagers.

... I may need to head to eBay to buy a Roscoe and Lobo card now though. For entirely unrelated reasons.

Only thing I wonder right now is if they gonna drop a new series of amiibo cards and/or figures. That and if they gonna re-release the already existing ones for those who want to start collecting them, as especially a bunch of the cards became hard to find and also pretty expensive (looking at you, Sanrio cards).

Nice, I got the 3-pack with KK, Cyrus & Reese. Would be cool if they released some villager figures as well, I really wasn't a fan of their card system even though it makes sense for the amount of villagers there are.

Did the cards sell particularly well outside of Japan? I know they’re hard to come by these days but I wonder if that’s just because they didn’t get subsequent print runs rather than been incredibly popular - a few popular villagers aside, they aren’t as expensive on the second hand market as you might expect.

Re: Sanrio, I imagine that’ll need a new license agreement between Nintendo and Sanrio, so if there are any cards I expect not to be compatible, it is those.
