I've decided to evict almost my entire town of characters (except Astrid and Eunice) and replace them with new ones (aka my favorite villagers via Amiibo cards).
So my questions are:
1. What's your favorite villagers gained by Amiibo, and
2. What are your experiences in using them?
Ketchup and Rex are my favorite Amiibo card villagers.I had Rex in my Gamecube town so it was good to get him back in ACNL.I hoped to get Ketchup in my Gamecube town but she never moved there and I'm glad that Nintendo brought her back.I like that Amiibo cards give you more options as to which villagers you can move into your town but the one thing I don't like is that Amiibo card villagers almost never ping to move unless you have at least eight of them in your town.If you have at least eight they seem to ping for moving like "natural" villagers. Also,if you have an older 3DS/2DS you'll need an Amiibo card reader and they're a bit pricey nowadays.
I don't have any of the special 50 Welcome Amiibo cards, such as Ketchup or Maddie, but I do have the regular ones. My favorite one that I did managed to get was Mitzi. She was the first villager I ever met when I first played Animal Crossing awhile back and I was glad to get her card. Some other cards I got were O'hare and Lolly and they are some of my favorites as well. My experiences? Not much, other than that they don't ping to move out very much like Nunnafinga said. That's the only downside, so if you wanted to replace some villagers, you need more Amiibo cards to do it. Otherwise, you will be waiting a long time for them to ping about moving. :/
Ok so I have been an amiibo collector for a while now and have a fair few. I always get them and packs in store so I don’t get to choose who I get, I juts hope for ones that I like and I have been pretty lucky and gotten some really good ones. My favourites are: Rosie, cookie, Whitney, ankha, Goldie and Cheri. One piece of advice before you start scanning them all in: make sure that you aren’t going to get bored of them and/or ever want other villagers ever again. It is impossible for an amiibo villager to move out (I never have more than one in my personal town) However this may not apply to you if you are moving in eight, in my cycle town all of my villagers are amiibos and they move out sometimes so now thinking about it, if you have as many as eight they will be able to move out. My other warning is that you won’t be able to move where they put their houses, even if they move out whomever you replace them with will take up their old spot so if your picky about house placement do be aware of that. Amiibos are pretty cool and give me a weird sense of security because I always have some of my dreamies no matter what but after first getting them, the villagers loose their special earned feeling so I don’t ever use them for my personal town anymore, I just cycle them for other people. Hope this helps
8/10 villagers are amiibo villagers in my town. The only two who aren't are Ankha and Wolfgang, and neither will ever be allowed to leave Foraoise. I do find that they are the main two who ping me to move out, although, when you have as many amiibo villagers as I do then even they tend to ask to move. If you have only 1 amiibo villager, they probably won't ping to move though. I would advise to keep an eye on your non amiibo villagers for unexpected moves.
I bought Amiibo cards for my two favorite villagers, Grizzly and Anicotti. They will forever be residents in my main town. The other 8 villagers were obtained randomly and I cycle them out occasionally to meet new villagers. I haven't had Anicotti that long, but it's been over a year now since I moved Grizzly into town and he has never pinged me to move. So if you are moving in Amiibo villagers, be aware of what everyone else has said...that they don't ping to move very often unless your town is mostly made up of Amiibo villagers.
I'm working on a second town and I went ahead and bought Amiibo cards for 8 of the 10 villagers so I can move them in whenever I'm ready. That town will be themed, so all of the villagers I selected will be permanent. I haven't started moving them in yet, though, because I'm still working on my layout and confirming that my house plots work.
My favorite Amiibo cards that I have are Felicity, Carmen and Lolly. Lolly is my favorite of the normal kitties. My favorite kitty is Felicity, as she is so cute! I hope I'll be able to bring them over to ACNH.
I wish you luck on your Amiibo endeavor! I hope you are pleased with the end result.
My favorite regular Amiibo card villager is Stitches who is in my town. In terms of RV cards and figures with villagers, I suppose Felyne and Sandy? I do not have them so it is hard to gauge. I likely would not move in any villagers with RVs anyhow as I would like to use their RVs. I treat my Amiibo villagers just about the same. Since I only have a couple, it is essentially two less villagers I have to check up on if they are moving.
My favourite villager I got from amiibo cards was Dizzy! I've also invited Ken, Phoebe, Avery, Bea, Wade, and Piper (maybe some others too I can't remember). Other than my WA villagers (the whole pack I bought online), all my cards and reader were gifted to me by friends ;o;
My very first amiibo move in, which was Dizzy, was kinda disastrous because I forgot all about plot resetting and the tile placement thing and he ended up moving in a terrible location on top of my flowers. But it worked out in the end after I reworked the area and grew to love it. The rest of my amiibo move ins were pretty smooth for the most part. In that town, I had already laid out the entire town with QR paths to force new move ins into specific spots. There were two villagers specifically who gave me problems. One villager refused to move into a NEW empty spot and kept trying to move ontop of the villager who had just been forced out (who was in a terrible spot). The other one was the exact opposite where they refused to move into the villager's old spot, which was in an ideal location. But after a couple hours of plot resetting it worked out in the end :> I should mention too that none of my amiibo villagers have ever pinged me to move out yet.
A while ago, I had the amiibo cards for Claude and Bitty as well as the Sanrio villagers Toby and
Chelsea, later also the amiibo figures you needed to get Inkwell and Wolf Link. I moved in all six
of them once in a older town of mine. Their houses places were actually quite good for the fact
that I didn't cared to do plot resetting for them. Compared to the villagers that moved in over
the regular way, none of the six ever pinged me to leave. It was mostly one of the other four
remaining villagers that wanted to go and they asked many times to move out, but I wanted
them to stay. Even if I time traveled a lot, the amiibo villagers stayed. Around that time I
thought villagers that moved in via amiibo cards/figures would never leave except you would
replace them with another amiibo one. Until I heard that they are able to move out but just
ping you more rarer than the others. But still, I never saw them asking me to go, instead
they always asked me for new catchphrases, items or deliver something to another villager.
Overall, I found it interesting having them in my town, the most I liked were Claude, Bitty,
Inkwell and Wolf Link. As for Toby and Chelsea, they became kinda boring to me to be honest
after a while. At some point, I restarted the town then, this time however I didn't let move in
any amiibo villager. The reason for this is that even I didn't had so much trouble with them,
I hated kinda the fact that they barely asked to move out, it just bother me more and more
over the time.
