I've always had a pet peeve when people call the villagers in ACNL NPC's. Ive always thought of them as sort of mini-players themselves, if you know what I mean.

Post your thoughts below!

NPCs means non-playable characters, and you cant play as a villager (as awesome as that would be)
so i think its the correct term

I might be a loser for saying this but uhh...
They aren't NPCs to me, they're my friends.

Yep, I would say that they were always NPC's to me but my favourite one Maple has really grown on me lately and I wouldn't cope if she left. Well if you mean when they talk about other people's towns I find that pretty awesome too. As much as I'd like to play as them I'm happy with being myself really.

Not really... they are just NPCs at the end of the day. Whether you have an emotional attachment to them or not doesn't really change the definition of what they are.

Uh
you can sort of control them
like what goes in the house and stuff
but regardless they aren't playable
and I don't see the problem in calling them your 'friends'
I mean can you tell me if there's something wrong with them being your friends
if they cheer you up and you think they earn the status of friends then they're your friend there's nothing wrong with that

I don't mind them getting called NPCs, but I guess it's a bit confusing because then what do you call characters like Brewster and Tom Nook and whatnot....? also NPCs?
