Here’s the thing: I have a bug off on the 21st on my main island. I thought that SH was 1 to 1 with NH. That means that this would be in May. I don’t remember having a bug off in May. Am I forgetting this bug off, or are they future proofing the game and skipping December’s bug off so that it doesn’t conflict with Toy Day (when it lands on a Saturday)?

The Northern Hemisphere Bug Offs were June, July, August, and September. It's possible they might not have wanted the Bug Offs to be in December for Toy Day reasons.

That’s what I’m thinking. I’ll have to wait and see what they do with December, then! I’m fine with having a may equivalent bug off, seeing as there shouldn’t be any pesky tree bugs for this month.

Agreed. Even if they didn't want it to fall on the 26th, December 19th was an option as well. I wonder if the plaza is going to be decorated for Toy Day all month long, or if the Toy Day festivities are going to be more involved?

I don't know but seeing an old article about bug off lists these dates:

Northern Hemisphere:
27th June
25th July
22nd August
26th September

Southern Hemisphere:
21st November
19th December
16th January
20th February

When is Toy Day exactly? I'm so bad with dates.

Toy Day itself is December 24th, aka Christmas Eve.

Ohhhhhh looking at those dates, it's possible they didn't want the first bugoff to be March 21st for SHers then since that was the day after launch & some people might not have gotten a net by then. That seems more likely now that I think about it.

Toy Day should either be the 24th or the 25th of December. I’m not sure which though, since I haven’t really participated in one yet (oddly enough). That’s so weird, I don’t know why they’d make it off by a month...

I don't have proof, but I'm very sure it says somewhere in the game that Bug Off is a summer activity (I think Flick may have said something along those lines after the last one was over) Since this one is clearly out of season for one hemisphere only, trying to avoid a scheduling conflict with Toy Day sounds like the most logical explanation.

If the decision to offset the bug offs by a month was because of release dates, I find it just plain bizarre since unless they fix it for 2021 bug offs will always be off by a month just because of one day. I guess in the long run it doesn’t matter too much but I find the decision to be odd...

Hold on, what's the FULL date on your island? And what hemisphere are you talking about? Southern? The only way this could have happened is if you skipped forward an entire year to 2021 ...

The date is Internet-synced to Nov 15 2020. And yes, I am in the Southern Hemisphere on this island.
