Lately, I'm totally hooked on ACNH since purchased it last month...I'm pretty sure it's not very healthy for person like me since lately I have been neglecting my college assignments and the deadline is very very close. The game gives a different vibe compared to any other Switch games I played since its kinda like a daily requirement for me to login into the game to continue my neverending progress within the game. Although i watch the credits / ending of the game already, the post game is much more vast and rich compared to the main story. It doesn't feel like the game have a story to begin with to be honest. It's kinda like a mobile game where the players required to access the game daily so that they wouldn't miss newly updated content. I don't mean to complain but I really want to hear everyone's opinion regarding this game and wether its healthy for me or I should reduce my playtime... (-w-)

I don't think you're crazy at all! I remember when I first got New Leaf back in 2014 I must have played it at least 2-3 hours a day. Sometimes I just spent the entire playing doing nothing but playing New Leaf!

Personally I haven't been playing nearly that much because as a Senior-to-be in college I've kinda adapted to not having very much time to play games. I always say that homework and school stuff comes first. The only times I would put video games first is if I was completely mentally burned out and couldn't focus. It's best to just balance your time between the work you need to do and playing NH. If you do that you'll be just fine. :)

Also I agree that the game barely even had a story to begin with. Not sure why they tried to implement a "story" into the game when it only lasted for like a week lol.

Nah, when new leaf came out I played it for 5 hours a day, but that was because I was still and kid and it was in the summer.

3hrs a day of gaming is perfectly normal. That can be balanced easily with college work if you use your time wisely.

I gamed for five hours today (not ACNH; Horizon Zero Dawn) and still did a substantial amount on an assignment for work. :)

Me, playing like 5 hours a day and reading this:

No, you can play for as long or as little as you want. It is your game, after all. I use to spend around 10 hours a day shiny hunting on Pokemon Y.

3 hours is pretty normal I’d say, especially since you’re just a month into the game.

If you feel it is affecting your college assignments though you should probably play a little less.

666 hours here (I kid you not) It does make sense considering a lot of people have free time, due to furlough or Quarantining. I'll got hella (*snort*) hours due to just having nothing else to do. If you do have stuff to do though, don't make Animal Crossing a procrastination station, it'll make you enjoy it less. Play it when you've got time.

I thought that unless you play for at least 8 hours a day you’re not normal.

Yesterday was the first day since launch that I didn't touch new horizons for the whole day. I thought I finally had gotten over it but today I played the WHOLE day .-.
I usually play at least from 14h to 19h (2pm to 7pm). I need to study for college as well but here I am lol

When the game first came out, due to COVID shutting down everything, such as the gym, all I could do when I wasn't at work was play. I would play 6+ hours a day.

I think it's fine to play for 3 or even a few more hours a day as long as you aren't ignoring your responsibilities!
I was able to get good grades last semester while still playing a lot of animal crossing, I'm at 845 hours currently.

If you're playing to the point where your college assignments are in jeopardy, I think it's best to step back. Animal Crossing will always be there for you once you finish your assignments, but you won't be able to spend the time you need on them if you're playing all the time. I'm in break right now, but when I was in uni, I found it effective to only play Animal Crossing during scheduled breaks and to set a playtime limit (usually 1 hour each session) or to allow myself to play only if I had met a goal I'd set for myself. If it's difficult for you to manage, there's no shame in giving your console to a friend/family member to hold on your behalf until you get to a particular goal/time of day.

I've been playing a lot less lately - maybe only 30 minutes to an hour a day as opposed to 2-3 - because I just find that there's less things to do and I've been really into another video game lately.
