In Haven I have 9 out of the ten villagers I need to complete the theme of the town. Willow just moved in today... Yeah - confetti in the air - happy snoopy dance... Woohoo! ( I'm far from finishing though, there's still a lot to do and lots of fun to be had. )

The big question is should I make a fourth character when I get my final villager? I have an idea for him, I've been collecting furniture and items and clothes for him... but if I seal off the last option I'll have no space to make a throw away character in order to plot set in case, heavens forbid, I lose one of my villagers.

How many characters do you have?

I have two at the moment, but I do plan on having 4 when I get my dream village. If I ever lose one of my villagers I will just delete someone and plot reset whenever I get someone else. I try really hard not to lose anyone though, but it does happen

3 here, one for storage and other one is rarely used but its my partner one.

In my case I won't create a new one just in case one of my villagers decides to move, then I can't plan where I want the house.

Is it worth to collect items and furniture for a storage character or do you really think on playing with him/her?

I only have my mayor character and think I will just keep it like that! The extra storage would be nice, but I am not really interested in decorating a whole new house and I'm not sure where I would even put the house. :D

It is in this case since it's a themed village and each house will tell a part of the story. I think of them as more like movable props with large closet space LOL

I use all mine, but some more than others. I have full towns soon after creating them. I need the pattern space and the storage. I'm a hoarder and a bit of a path pattern freak, too.

I admire people who don't need extra storage and patterns. I am who I am, I guess. :)

I have 3 including my mayor. They all have a "theme" with 3 villagers each to match.

So far I have my mayor and a secondary character who I was interested in actually playing at first, but now I can't be bothered... I plan to have a third in future, but I'll use the fourth save file as a plot/campsite reset mule.

Three players with 10 villagers. I don't have room/need/want a 4th character, 3 gives me enough storage already. The fourth slot is also for plot resetting ability. Plus I'm starting to make my character's houses so 3 is less work then 4.

I do understand your idea. In my case I can't do that but if you really want it, go for it after you get your dreamies or villagers.

You know the worst case sceneario will be a villager destroying some plants and trees if they put the house on the wrong place or in front of your house.

I have 4 characters now! Just have to be extra careful to make sure no one moves out now I guess lol

Three in all of my towns. I'd like four, but need open space to reset for villagers.

I have 3 characters in my main town (Flowers) and 2 characters in my second town (Starlite)

I have 4. I never thought I'd fill it out, but when I started using patterns it happened pretty easily c:

I'm only 2 villagers away from getting all my dreamies. Cookie's moving away so I could trade her for one of my dreamies or sell her. I used to have a fourth character, but I had to delete them so I can plot-reset.
