Where are all these " Is [X] a [y]?" threads coming from? I don't mind them, but I would like to know their origin. Thanks.

They come from the "Post New Thread" button.

But seriously, it's just a topic of conversation. People follow patterns and classifying an item in a group where it technically belongs but shouldn't gets people riled up.

"is cereal a soup" was a popular conversation starter among freshman at my college for some reason.
the "is hot dog a sandwich" thread just reminded me of that.
