Yeah idk why but villagers (for me at least) always seem to prefer the iron lamps. Maybe they're all secretly moths that are wearing animal suits, and animal crossing is actually a dystopian world where moths reign supreme and also happen to be furries. I know a lot of people also try using gift-wrapped exotic fruit, but from what i've seen (again this is from my personal experience) they don't work as well either. I mean i've got over 16 stacks of spare iron so I don't mind making the iron wall lamps, but I would prefer if there was a cheaper option that worked just as well. While the hanging terrariums sound good, i'm pretty sure they cost the same amount of iron so they're pretty much the same as using the iron wall lamps. Glad you got your last villager photo finally though! Photo luck can be very random at times, so I know the pain of going on a long dry streak for a while.
Wall-mounted items are usually given in order to preserve furnitureWhy does it matter what u give them? I thought it always gets the same amount of points when gifting towards friendship?? Anyways were all like moths attracted to our switches....
Wall-mounted items are usually given in order to preserve furnitureVillagers don't hang items afaik (though it can cause them to remove their original wall-mounted decorations) so stuff like terrariums and iron lamps are a popular method if you want to preserve originality.
I've been using the fruit method with no luck so far, though I'm hoping for the best soon. I want to preserve all my materials in the meantime as I'm still heavily building my islandbut congrats on the pictures!! <33
What do you mean furniture will start to dissapear after 64 items? I tried to pm you because im actively trying to figure out how to get rid of a table top item in a starter lazy house.. just wanna make sure i do this right..They changed the value of the items needed on how to get photos in 1.4 if you didn't know. A stack of two non native fruit can net you a photo of its wrapped so they take the whole stack.
Furniture also gives you more friendship points faster so your chances for a photo go up until it caps out at 10.2%.
I prefer the fruit to keep my villagers original because I give away my cycling ones once I get their photos.

Wall hanging items doesnt preserve furniture furniture if you give them too much. 64 items and then furniture on their walls and on top of surfaces will disappear.

I thought they display wall hanging items though? This is good to know.. thanks for confirming !It’s as simple as that. Fill their inventory with hanging items and they will eventually lose their hanging items and tabletop items. Give them one a day until that stuff disappears. I had heard it was 32 items in their inventory, though. Sharksheep knows more than me, so believe her.
Hold on.... so im geussing you can confirm they get rid of oldest furniture first ??It’s as simple as that. Ok tysm! Yeah I don't give a heck ab keeping them original (except maybe coco who's house is adorable and i'd prob be sad if it got messed up, but it already has two fish in it so liek....) heh Yeash i shall "go ham" with the lamps lol ty@egocentricHollybush
Both the iron wall lamps (wall mounted furniture in general) and stacked foreign fruit are good gifts for villagers.
The advantage of iron wall lamps is they increase friendship faster than the fruit stacks.
The disadvantage of iron wall lamps will eventually cause the villager to remove their original wall/homewares furniture. Villagers have an inventory limit of 64.
Credit to @/sharksheep on this subject
That being said, if you don't care about keeping your villagers "original", then go ham on the iron wall lamps.
