Aligning villager houses: How do you guys even DO it?

I like how you can't just choose where everyone goes, and yet I reset to get everyone's house in a row

... I remember I was holding a villager for someone in my old town who had been working on plot resetting ((I think it was Skye)) on and off for about THREE DAYS ... that is insane.

seriously how could you choose where villagers went in WW ;_; i don't remember that at all
I don't think they are talking about literal picking where but like you know where they can and cannot go...
If I remember correctly ((since I didn't spend long on WW since I actually really disliked it compared to the GC)), like the GC where the houses for villagers could appear, little signs were set up around the town. And only where those signs were could a villager move in. Unlike new leaf.

... like see these images...

only where those signs are are where a villager could put their homes.

I know everyone hates the idea but seriously one of those map editors ( like the one for WW & LGTTC) is needed and helpful. Ive been resetting my map for days trying to find a decent one. Even after i find one i have to keep plot resetting to pit villagers where i want them. I dont understand why nintendo couldnt allowed us too do that anyway. It was so popular with previous games. Its simple things like placing the rock where you want them

It normally takes (me) 2-4 days to plot a villager

... they were going to spend longer but I told them I was tired of waiting on holding the villager. ^^'
I was putting off my town reset waiting... and it was a high tier 1 villager I was selling for less than 1mill... they weren't gonna miss the chance of getting them from me I guess. XP

On my first game I was obsessed with getting my houses aligned. One sign will keep a 5x5 area clear. This town I'm letting the villagers move where they wish and accepting the challenge of incorporating their houses into the town's layout. Much more relaxing in one way, because I'm playing the game and not resetting, but I find it somewhat frustrating in another because, really Phoebe you're going to be that anti-social and put your house waaaaay up there where nobody else lives.... Well Excuuuuse me princess!

I don't plot-reset at all and a lot of my villagers just seem to naturally line-up along the cliff or river banks. Tank & Tom lined themselves up next to each other in the middle of town.
After a villager moves out, I put a pattern down (town flag) in front of where their door was, so when the next villager moves in I can see if they end up in the exact same place. I've had 3 different villagers move in just one space over from where a previous villager had lived. So I have Daisy atm and 2 'town flags' right next to her front door.
All are welcome in my town wherever they put their house.

I plot reset where my villagers move in at, but if they don't move in on my paths; I'll usually stick with it.

Corner them with PWPs and hope magic is real. 8'D

Villager houses do tend to gravitate towards eachother though, iirc.

I've never gone more than an hour, which is not that many resets given the train ride time. I sometimes have a general space in mind, but mainly just want to keep them out of certain areas. People say, "Just take them where they go and repath around them," but it's a lot easier to just not have them right on top of my bridge.

Wow I can't believe how insanely patient you guys are! I just let those crazy kids build their houses wherever they please :-P
