I got a second copy of ACNL in March, and as I have been working on that town, I realized that I wasn't happy with how my first town looked. I've had my first town for four years, and all throughout that period of time it looked the exact same. It was very sloppy, and just all over the place. Last night I started to tear down all of my bushes and trees, and now today I'm trying to work out a new path system.
The only problem I'm having so far is my river. I chose probably one of the worst layout options possible, so I'm trying to work around it but so far it's kind of difficult. I'm sure in the end I'll figure something out though. Restarting is out of the question, so I'll just have to work with what I have.
Has anyone else ever gone back and re landscaped their entire town after a long period of time? How did it go for you?
My oldest copy of AC has landscaping from so long ago.
I just woke up this morning and told myself: It's time to refresh.
I have some hybrids all over the place. I like the bushes but the bamboo grove has to go.
Since I don't play that town very often I'm thinking about removing the paths and letting things go wild. I'd reset but I'm halfway to all gold badges (except StreetPass) so if I'm in this town I will want to spend my time fishing and bug catching and medals.
I just started going to Luna and asking for random Dream towns to see if anyone has an open town layout like what I'm looking for.
I haven't removed the paths yet. And I still have the Beautiful ordinance but maybe this weekend I'll flip the switch to late night or Bell Boom. I just need a change.
Pixel is where I have fun landscaping...adding a bush here and there...
Strangely enough, I was thinking of doing the same thing. Not a major overhaul, but maybe getting rid of my villagers who are all over the place and then bringing them back via amiibo cards and placing them all in the same area. The problem is that I only have like two or three of the villagers on hand as amiibo cards.
I have made azalea paths and then halfway through just destroyed the paths and reworked them...until I finally was happy with the results. There are a few spots I am still unhappy with and it's normally because a villager is in an off-putting spot.
Wow has everyone been thinking the same thing? I want to rework my paths and re-landscape my town too! The paths are awkwardly curvy and there's too much open space for my liking, especially in a modern town. My flowers are all over the place and my trees are only near the paths.
Well i've had my main town about 7 months now and i'm just now re doing a lot of my paths and plot resetting all 10 villagers lol! It's definitely a difficult process.
Can't relate to wanting to re-landscape the entire town, but there are two areas that I want to redo. I planted a perfect apple orchard that I am not too happy with, and in the other I feel like I planted too many trees. Sometimes things don't come together like they do in your head.
I spent almost 2 hours remaking a path in a relatively new town. I was already kind of meh about the town layout, and after spending all of that time I ended up just resetting >.> but I haven't done any complete overhauls after such a long period of time
Letting go of my villagers is going to be so difficult... I'm so attached! At least I have five of their amiibo cards, so I'll be able to bring them back if I miss them. The only thing is that I don't have Ankha, Rosie, Olivia, and Lolly and those are the hardest to find. Hopefully one day I'll have their cards. Ankha asked me to move out yesterday, and I just couldn't let her go just yet. I will really miss them all, but if I'm going to relandscape I have to because of where all of the houses are.
