So I just started AC yesterday and found a perfect town.

I built my house with the river right in front and after upgrading from the tent, I realized that this may not be such a great idea as it prevents me from having a garden in front (imagine walking out of your house door to encounter the river almost immediately after, that's how close to the river it is).

Originally it seemed like a cool idea, to have a riverfront house. However I am currently reconsidering changing locations. I don't think there's any way I could change my house location without deleting the entire town huh? What are the chances of getting the exact same town layout again if I were to reset?

Would greatly appreciate any advice you guys can give as I'm really new in the game and am unsure if I should reset the town or just go on with my current town layout/house location.

Thanks loads in advance!

I don't know the odds, but I could safely say that it's one in a million that you'd get the exact same layout again. If you're willing to settle for another layout, then reset. If not, you could always have a garden out back!

If you really love your town layout then settle for a garden to the side, or you could make another character and give their house a fancy garden

There's a couple of things to consider when deciding to make things permanent.

1. town name
2. Town layout
3. character's face
4. Misc. stuff such as character name, mayor start date

The town layout I really like, is this one:

It also has an island on the top corner.

My town layout is horizontal (Left right)
The river goes straight across my town in the middle. Almost any town works out well. You can make something out of any layout. Just make sure that you're comfortable with retail location and if your beach is connected.

I restarted 3 times myself, but now I'm satisfied. There is no "Perfect layout" It's all about the placement of objects, and the beach
