I don't have any paths down right now but I'd love to place some down.
However, every time I look some up I can't imagine how to make them...

fit? blend in? look good?

Any advice on this?

Mmmm, it's hard to say but as a rule I think going with a path that has all four corner pieces, top, bottom left and right pieces and a center piece (so 9 tiles in total) makes the path look very refined and realistic. Going for ones that are just one square that repeats over and over look cheap to me sometimes.

Using paths that fit with the season that your town is in helps

This is good advice. It can be a pain though, and takes up a lot of pattern space.

The other suggestion I have is to surround the paths with flowers. I feel like that makes paths 'fit' a bit better

If you decide to start with a single tile pattern (which might be easier until you get the hang of it), make the top and bottom borders mirror each other, then do the same for the two side borders. The pattern will repeat perfectly without any breaks in the design and you can put whatever you want in the middle :3

You could go down the hard route and use dirt paths?? Even though they are hard to maintain and take a lot of effort they look really natural, imo.

Ho about natural, grass deterioration paths? Visit the dream town of Kokoro or look up some pictures, it looks awesome, it's what I want for my town!

I think a good idea is to make your own path, or find a pattern you can copy manually and not by QR code. That way if the path you copy or make has terrain around what's supposed to look like the stone or whatever you choose, you can change the terrain color of your path for every season. That's what I did. I went onto the Animal Crossing community, the one used for WW, copied a path myself, and now I can change it whenever I want. :)
