Advice for breeding and organizing flowers?

I want to start on organizing my flowers but I feel I don't have enough hybrids.

Should I organize my flowers while breeding them? Or should I breed then organize? Though I worry about the latter more because I'm afraid I'll loose space.

I really don't know where to start! What did you do to organize your flowers? I'm following a strict blues, purples, pinks, and whites colored flowers only, does anyone have advice how I should organize them?

get an idea of how you want to do it. be like okey imma put blue-white-blue-pink-blue-white-blue-purple-blue-white-blue (whatever flower) pattern and all white flowers behind that
breed them somewhere in town
once u get enough, put em down where intended

idk if i ever feel like ill need a certain colour of a certain flower type, i (will) have two of every type of flower + flower hybrid for easy breeding. its best to look at 'popular'/well thought out dream towns to get ideas about how you want your town to look like.

Oh I just used whatever looks good. I think it's cool to combine different types of flowers once in awhile as long as you have a reoccurring theme. White rose>orange lily>pink cosmos>yellow tulip>white rose for example. Sometimes I just do a field of one color with different flowers. Other times I make a shape, a diamond for example, using flowers and I put a PWP in the middle. There are plenty of other ways of doing it that a lot of people haven't tried. Just experiment a little bit. That's what I did.

What I do is take all of my flowers and group them by type (usually I start by placing them around the plaza). I leave the colors random and water, water, water. When hybrids start popping up and I start running out of room I take the ones I want and move them to their permanent homes (usually lining a path) and leave the rest around the plaza to produce more hybrids.

I've tried many other strategies but this always seems to work the best. Letting the flowers kinda grow wild seems to get me more hybrids more quickly.

Well, this is what I do:

- find out what flowers you like the most
- if they're basics, go to the island & collect some on a tour
- if they're hybrids, set some basic ones aside that breed your desired hybrids and only water them
- when you get 2 of your desired hybrids (e.g. 2 black roses), set them aside & water them so they breed more of their kind
- doesn't work with all hybrids (e.g. pink roses only come from red & white, not pink & pink)

When breeding hybrids, I set the beautiful town ordinance in place so my other flowers won't wither if I don't water them. Hybrids usually only grow from watered flowers. I bred a lot of hybrids while also going for my gold watering can, and now that I have my watering can, I have a lot of my desired hybrids so I can remodel my town. ^^

Be mindful that if you have the beautiful ordinance in place, your villagers will plant and water flowers more often, meaning it might confuse your hybrid breeding if you want hybrid red roses to breed blue roses. What I did was set a flower bed for my orange & purple roses and check at the end of each day (~11pm) if there was a new flower near them. If there was, I know that it's not a hybrid and a villager planted it there, so I'll move it somewhere else. The next morning, if there's a red rose there, it should be a hybrid one.

I usually organize while I breed, like I have one part of my town for purple roses because that's what I need the most of, and the others for gold roses and carnations.
The best way to organize flowers when you breed them is to alternate a flower every square, think like a checkerboard, so that every flower has space to breed. I only really breed for fun though and just to line my paths, so this might not be the best way ;w;

I usually work on my town by areas, so I take all the flowers on that specific area to the beach, sell the ones I won't use, then plan the area. Just walk around the area and get somewhat a nice idea of what I want (you can always tweak and adjust while you go)

about hybrids, I used to breed them all on the beach. If I needed more I would just go and breed a few more until I got enough for the area.

then I would pick them up and organize them in the respective area. I like this method because it breaks down the map in manageable chunks and I don't freak out lol


and check dream towns! i like going through the acnl tag, acnl dream (/dream address/dream town) tag, and checking specific tumblrs that show off/review dream towns! the acnl landscaping tag is also a good one! take lots of pictures when visiting and put them in your computer so you can look at all of them and get ideas and be inspired by flower-matching. even if you are not using the same flowers or colours, it helps to get the imagination going!

I normally breed then organize, like having one patch just for blue roses or something, and then another patch for blue violets, so breeding could be much faster. Then you would organize them in any way you want, but I don't really organize :/
