New Horizons is is my first Animal Crossing game and I’m loving it! One thing that I’m still overwhelmed with is villagers, specifically which personalities to have and how many of each.

Should I just let villagers come and go naturally to see which ones I vibe with? The only personality I don’t really like is Uchi, but then I also worry about repetitious dialogue (I love Sherb and Zucker, but they say the same thing way too often.)

i think you should just let them come and go, unless you really enjoy them - then let em stay. some people prefer more personalities, some are okay with repeat personalities, it all depends on you. i wouldn't really put too much stock in it and just go with the flow until you decide. although some personality types may give specific things, like reactions or something? not really sure.

I'd say be aware of the personalities, because that influences your campsite visitors!

For example, if you dislike Uchi, and that is your only missing personality, then they will show up with high frequency!

Get one of each, and start to see which ones you like the most to complete your 10 villagers, nothing wrong with having 2 or 3 of the same personality. And they can move out so, for now the best advise would be enjoy the game, you will eventually get all the villagers you want. :)

I’d say, try to keep all kinds of personality in your island :)

This. Convos get boring if you have too many villagers of the same type. But it is a good idea to see which villagers you vibe with. Even though most villagers of the same personality have similar convo, it has been discovered each villager also has 2 sub personalities, so there should be a little variation even within the same main personality.

It's good to have one of each personality as they will teach you different sets of emotes and give you different kinds of DIY recipes. If that doesn't matter to you, there's no other benefits than different dialogue.

Personally, I'd say let them come in and out naturally. You never know which villager you'll really connect with until you meet them.

AFAIK reactions and DIYs are indeed tied to personalities so it’s probably to your benefit to have one of each initially. I likely won’t be keeping an uchi myself long term but will see!

I would say go with the flow. Be aware of how many personalities you have. I try to have one of each personality and that gives me room for two repeats. So, I just go with who I like.

Edit: oh! And don't get caught up with "dreamies" right away. Since this is your first AC game, I would just let people move in randomly. You will form your own opinions of villagers that way.
