so, i?ve recently made a new town and decided to go with a forest theme (how original!) i was wondering if anyone could offer advice as to where my villagers? houses should go, ideas for pwps and other areas, or otherwise tips on making the town look natural yet whimsical!!

here?s my town map:

You could plot reset about 4 villagers in a row down nearest the beach.

With a path going by all 4.

The only drawback is pine won't grow in the south. :(

hmm. id say if you have the patience, you could make dirt paths. they make forest towns look more realistic to me. i would say dont plot your villagers right next to each other or neatly! giving them a good amount of space in between each other and at different angles + lots of trees and flowers in between will make it look really like a town in the forest (we have plenty where i live). dont have a uniform color of flower or type either.

again this is all if youre going for realistic forest town.

I agree that dirt paths would look nice! I have a zen forest town and you need a lot of trees to achieve the foresty covered look :?o but I really like it!!! Good luck with your forest town <3 If you get a DA let me know and I?d love to visit!!

Looking at your town map it appears to be very tight, so I would probably either use dirt paths (like the people above me are saying), a clover path (if you are incredibly patient and dedicated), or use a one square wide path. It would make it easier to navigate the skinny areas/tighter areas and can be great if you have intrusive rocks. I think you should also think very carefully where you're going to put the cafe/police station if you want them because I think it could easily become a huge problem if you change your mind and really dislike the placement.
The best way (imo) to save space is by having some of the villager houses aligned, however it's up to you whether you think that fits the overall aesthetic of your town or not.
You probably already very well know this but just stock up on bushes! Every day that you can, check Leif's store for bushes. For a forest-y town I personally think that hydrangeas work best, but it's totally up to you!

I agree with everyone saying dirt paths are a good idea! I also think that paths made of clovers and randomly placed stone tiles (you can find a lot of QR codes for them if you search!) would be nice too. I see so many dream towns with rain, cedar trees, holy/hydrangea bushes, and dirt paths.

Here are links to some QR codes for tiles:

I've also seen a lot of people use the following PWPs:
Campsite
Classic police station (sometimes)
Hammock
Camping cot
Log bench
Wood bench
Wooden bridge / Suspension bridge
Bus stop
Park clock / Zen clock
Instrument shelter (sometimes)
Streetlight / Zen streetlight / Street lamp
Water well
Fire pit
Water pump
Stone tablet

I usually try to organize my towns with straight pathways with tiles but I'm guessing that'd look sort of unnatural for a forest town and because I don't have any experience with making forest towns, I don't think my advice would be helpful but here are my suggestions.

It might be hard organizing 9 villagers (if that's the number you want, though it's a safe number of villagers) in your town though since it's so tight xD;
- Place villagers in a straight line along with lower beach
- Place villagers in a straight line under the RV site
- Place villagers in a straight line to the right of where the beach to the left starts
- Place villagers in an upside down L shape near/along the campsite area

I hope my advice helped xD; Also, here are some dream addresses for forest towns if you need some inspiration. I'm not sure if the codes work anymore with the new update:
