Active players?

Hello! Terra1050 here (feel free to just call me Terra)! So I'm still relatively new here, and am finding myself struggling to be on social on here (I just feel really socially awkward, and sometimes get anxious on forums), but feel maybe if I found others who love New Leaf and still enjoy might help me come out of my shell a bit.

New leaf isn't my first AC game, as I grew up with Wild World first and foremost, and didn't actually get into ACNL until later. I didn't have a 3ds when I was younger, but ended up saving up for one, and finally got it some years ago. So I finally picked up NL since I'd heard so much about it, and felt like I was missing out. I don't regret it! I was worried that I'd feel a bit disappointed since I'd been playing ACNH for awhile now, and was thinking it would be a downgrade since it was an older game, but boy was I proven wrong! It's now one of my favorite 3ds games I own. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy ACNH plenty, but I find myself missing certain aspects of NL whenever I play on my switch. I think there are just some aspects of NL that I love better than NH.

So anyway, enough about me and long winded speech, how about you? Does anyone else still play? I don't know how many play on CFW 3ds, but does anybody know if Pretendo has plans to support mulitplayer? I completely missed out on the online scene because I didn't know anyone who played NL, and then online functionality was shut down. I'd really love to play with others if it becomes possible with Pretendo.

I generally come back to my New Leaf town once a year for a few weeks! Though less often after entering the work force and being busy with hobbies, adult stuff, etc etc... I'm more often inclined to come back to Wild World this past year

Still, New Leaf has a certain nostalgia and aesthetic to it that I love coming back to. Very cozy game to unwind with. I got rid of my first fully-upgraded town years ago (and regretted it LOL) and never had the drive to play as much on any file since then... But I enjoy slowly making progress over time on my current town!

ALSO: Regarding pretendo stuff, I think recently they announced ACNL was in "beta testing" for online play! Not sure what that means for the current state of access to the general public, but hopefully it's fully functional/up and running soon!

Greetings, Terra. A very belated welcome to the forums.
I play New Leaf quite frequently, and like you, my first game was Wild World. I also play New Horizons, but i am drawn to the aesthetic of New Leaf in particular. New Leaf certainly has elements that New Horizons lacks, some of which i can put my finger on, and some not. Anyhow, i do still play New Leaf. And about Pretendo, the situation is exactly as toxapex stated. Terra, do you happen to have a favourite villager?

i really agree !! new leaf just has special charm.. i still play to this day ! i hope you get comfortable and used to the forum ! im really new too.. and i really relate to missing out with the online features so sad ᵕ_ᵕ̩̩

Wow, I'm so happy to meet others that also play New Leaf! I of course knew they were on here, but it's nice to see how many still enjoy it, even with NH out. Thank you to Toxapex and Kisaker39 for updating me on the current state of Pretendo! I'm horrible at keeping up with that stuff, and haven't seen anything on it, so I'm really glad to see that Pretendo now officially has servers for NL open to the public! Definitely would like to try to find people to play with at some point!

Also, to answer your question, kisaker39, I have soooo many favorites, but in NL some of my favorites are Fang, Flora, and Bob, though my list doesn't end there (I could go on for awhile about all the villagers I've had over the years).

I havent played it in almost a year oooof ;__; I feel so bad. And I was a whole year behind in 2024 also hahaha. Oops. I just get so busy with stuff and sometimes I feel so tired from new leaf because the villagers are a bit naggy at times. Feel bad for saying it hahah cause I love them, but it gets a bit annoying sometimes lol. I might just hop on today, as I have some time to spare after a shower. hmmm :3

edit: also im not too familiar with pretendo, as i dont have a modded ds. I am assuming it's only to be able to meet up with other players? or does the dream suite and everything else also work?

i know what you mean .. theyre always asking for random things lol.....
also i dont think the dream suite works yet with pretendo but ive been able to visit other poeple and go to tortimer island ! i think they are working on the dream suite stuffs..
modded 3ds is really awesome !

Do you know if there is any risks to visiting Tortimer island? I know when the servers were being shut down people were warning to stay off it since hacks had gotten pretty bad
