Activating Spotpass?

I am reading about HH Showcase homes being available via Spotpass,
I am unsure how to activate this.

Pretty sure I decided not to activate it at the beginning of the game because I thought I would be sent a tonne of advertisements xD

Anyone able to help?

Also once activated, how do I get the homes?

I don't think Europe has gotten any spotpass houses yes At least I haven't.
You can activate spotpass when you start the game up on the very first screen after pressing A. There are three options:
Continue
Spotpass
Update data.

Yeah noticed today when I started up my game that the Spotpass option was there

And apparently I DO have it activated.

And really? None yet? That's depressing

For some reason, NoA hasn't sent homes from America to Europe.
