Accidentally sold a bug to Raymond. Now it’s a piece of furniture in his house.

So basically, the other day I went and talked to Raymond. I had a bug in my inventory and he asked to buy it off of me. I thought I clicked no, but I guess I clicked yes because the next day it was sitting next to his desk. I hate how it looks in his house, and I want it gone. I know that I could give him other furniture items to replace it, but I don’t want any other furniture items in Raymond’s house. Could someone tell me if there’s any way to get it back or to get him to stop displaying it? Thank you.

I feel you. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to get them to stop displaying furniture (bugs and fish are considered furniture I think). I gifted one of my villagers a baby bear accidentally and they won't stop displaying it lol. They keep changing the orientation of it every time I visit them as well

Do you maybe think they’ll add that feature into the game? Like the feature of being able to get it back, or maybe to buy it off of them.

I hope so! I believe they had a similar feature back in New Leaf so maybe they will add this in future updates but I think not for another few months as the wedding update just dropped.

You could try gifting him more furniture (that fits his theme/you wouldnt mind him having) to get him to cycle it out!! When I picked up Genji, he had a black bass displayed on his table, and I didnt really care that he had a fish in his house, just the way it was displayed was a real eyesore every time i walked in, so I gifted him things that fit the theme of his house, like, bamboo DIYs and eventually a paper tiger, this is what made him put the fish away for good LOL.

Thank you so much. You are awesome!

I sure hope they add it! Thank you for all the help.

Judy wanted to buy my Oliver flounder and I accidentally said yes. Now there is a huge tank of this ugly little thing right there in her room and I am so sad

I kinda hope they’ll introduce something à la Happy Home Designer, myself. Like, maybe once we get really, really high friendship with them, there’s a chance they ping us and go ‘Hey, I think you have pretty good tastes. Would you come over to redecorate my place?’ And then you can move stuff around, remove crap and add things from your own storage to their homes.

I feel like that could keep players busy an extra month or so once we all start running out of stuff to do.

That sounds like an awesome idea. I hope they add that.

This should help, the game has certain rules when it comes to furniture.

Give him lots of wall mounted items to flush out his furniture catalogue. He won’t display them. If you maximize sending gifts in mail (5) and in person (1) per day, You can do it in 5 days to flush his catalogue of 30 items.

edit: although it may be random not linear in which case who knows how long it takes?

To purge that out, you have to gift him furniture that fits within that specifications (size/placement). I saw a guide somewhere in the forums that explains it in details.

Does this actually work? For example, Muffy has a tiara laying on the floor as she never wore it after I gifted it to her. Would giving her a bunch of wall-mounted items remove the tiara?

Tiara is clothing so I don’t think so. If somebody knows otherwise please let me know. Do clothes and furniture share an inventory?

That happened to me earlier, lol. I was going around giving all my villagers their daily fruit gift, and accidentally gave Diana some cat grass. THANKFULLY it's a pretty neutral item and looks OK in her house. She's the only villager whose interior I really care about, as it's my favorite.
