Hey all, so my 3DS was in the shop (my hinge broke) and I got it back, then the volume slider wouldn't work, got it back again this afternoon. I got home, popped animal crossing in and just clicked through Isabelle's set up and wound up back on January 1st, 2013. I forgot to reset my 3DS clock.

My options are pop out the game and reset and fix the system clock, or TT back to real time. I have three villagers I adore, three I'm attached to, and a year and half practically to skip ahead to. Recommendations? I don't want to lose anyone, and I'm not opposed to TT (I jump around a few hours ahead or behind based on my availability), but I really don't want to lose Rosie, Katt or Lopez. Should I let Resetti do his worst? Meanwhile I guess I'll enjoy 1/1/2013...

Aww, poor thing :(
Luckily, this is super easy to fix. Just walk around and see if anyone "pings" you with the little exclamation mark over their head. If not, talk to everyone like 4 times each. IF no one says anything about moving, then TT a day forward and repeat until someone says they're thinking of moving.
As soon as that happens, tell them to stay or go whichever you want and then Save and Quit after that. Then you can TT as far forward as you need without having to worry about losing any villagers!

Oh, make sure you have beautiful ordinance before making the big jump. That'll preserve your flowers.

Flowers are already gone from going back so far. But on the positive, I'm ahead for Weeding Day. :/ It never occurred to me that AC would default to my system time. The more you know...

They won't on a event day, unless it's an event that ends at a specific time. They'll ping after it's over, but usually only after you talk to them once first.

Here's another idea. Set your clock to today's date and first go in as a new character. If no one has moved, you're okay to go in for real. If you want to be super safe, save as the new character. But, as long as you haven't played, someone has surely wanted to move.

You can also set your clock ahead about a week from where you're at and go in as a new character. You can see who is missing, go back to January 1 and make sure the missing person is the one who pings you, and you can then stop them. That takes the guesswork out of it. Just be careful you get the dates right when you're going in as mayor!

Yep, that definitely works, to wait until someone says they're going to move, then jump the year or so ahead. I had somehow wound up a year behind and panicked. LOL But it DID work, so phew! :D Good luck!!
