In light of having neglected my AC:NL game, I decided to start over completely.

My last town had the plaza in front of the Town Hall, and they lined up perfectly, so I tried to re-create that, and while I got very close many, many times (always one square off), it never quite happened.

I reset for close to six hours, until eventually, I came across this:
WVW69jm7WyIOYqepVG

It's not a perfect line, but it's pretty fantastic. South-facing waterfall, a (relatively) nice line-up, and a ramp that lines up perfectly with the dock, with RE-tail being really close for easy island sales. I've been in map heaven these last few days. To top it off, because of how long the resetting took, I ended up starting this town on my birthday. <3

Nice, I'm too lazy to take and post a pic of my map, but maybe later. My map is okay, I mean, for me it's great. I just really like the layout of it. My only complaints are like 1-2 rocks that have lame locations, and like this one dirt patch where grass never grows. I also had nice starter villagers. Too bad those jerks all left me >> I miss them so much I lost all of them lol Anyways, I reset my old town for the same reason. I'd had it since the release of the game, but I loaded it up one day last year after neglecting it for ages, and I just couldn't stand playing in it. A bunch of my fave townies were gone, my town was a mess, etc. I honestly didn't feel too bad about resetting. Now I'm in love with my current town, and still carry little pieces of my old town with me. I moved Lolly from my old town to my new one, and also brought over all of my wealth and some belongings.

I LOVE this map omfg. The only thing I would've done differently is putting your house south of where you put it. That little penninsula near the waterfall could serve for an amazing private modern bench in front of your house :)

I thought about bringing over some of my stuff from the last save file, but I ended up being too lazy, and honestly, it's kind of refreshing! That, and I was too lazy to find someone to hold my stuff, since I only have the one copy.

I really, really thought about doing that, but because of the way the map is laid out, I figured I'd want to put a bridge relatively close to the waterfall. My first goal for now is to have a path that connects my house, the bridge, Town Hall, Re-Tail, the south ramp, and the Plaza. Hopefully I moved my house far back enough, though. I tried looking at a bridge guide but the images were broken. ;; If not, I suppose I'll have to work around it.

Hopefully I have the development permit by tomorrow. I hear it doesn't always happen that way. ;~;

Ohh that's perfect and spacious! You are lucky to get everything all condensed near the port.
The maps that I don't understand and am so jealous of are the ones with tiny little islands! Perfect for their house. like this one from Licorice Untitled-1.jpg
edit;; maybe it's a little harder to get to Re-tail... but... island!!

^ I tried doing that by editing the map but I have no patience lol and it would bother me to no end having wrong facing rivers to make the whole thing of the mini island work with two waterfalls.
this is my map, I love the symmetry of it.

Punchy, I didn't know that there was a map editor... the more you know!! Your map is so clean, too ^___^

I think that map is hacked, considering it says "edited map".

To me, more waterfalls would only be attractive if they were south facing, lol

And oh my gosh! Your map looks almost like my last one, but flipped! Though my waterfall was south-facing because I reset if I don't get one. >>;

I didn't know there was AC:NL hacking in general until a couple of days ago, and now YouTube keeps suggesting hacked town videos to me. The neatness of those maps is amazing, and I saw one with bushes around the Plaza tree. It looked super cute.

I don't want to hack, though. ;;

That's a really good layout actually. The only part I dislike is the to origin corner and that's merely because I've got a section like that in my town that I have struggled to do anything with. I'm sure somebody with more imagination than I could do something good with it though.
Really like the amount of space you've got on both sides too, it's pretty equal and will give your town the feeling of being bigger than it is. Mine feels very small and cluttered in comparison to other people's. The plaza and town hall being on the same side and close to each other is brilliant too. Again it gives you so much more space to work with.
Well done :)

Thanks! Honestly, I was starting to feel silly for resetting for a town map for so long. I'm glad it was ultimately worth it.

Yep. My first ever town map was PERFECT but I had no idea.

I got my permit, and have tested the bridge location... my house is too close ;v;

And of course, there are villager homes all along that side, so... This is going to be a problem.
