absurd badge requirements

Every source I can find says that just to get the silver medalist badge you have to earn 1500 medals on island tours. Am I alone in thinking that's plain stupid? Considering it takes 300 to get the bronze, I would think it shouldn't take more than 1500 to get the gold medalist badge. Plus it's not as if the total cost of every possible gift shop furniture/clothing/tools even equals 1000 medals, especially given that the average cost of one item is 40.

Anyone else feel like the badge requirements are too much or am I venting to empty air?

Well Animal Crossing is all about long term goals, so no I don't particularly think it's that big of an ask.

And after all it's a gold badge, supposed to signify that you did something impressive, not just another participation trophy, something you actually worked for, and weren't just gifted for simply playing the game.

Impressive is one thing, but considering that the most medals you can earn in a single tour is 20, and those are only available in special 3-star tours, that's still A LOT of grinding away. And not everybody is a good enough player to get the max on the difficult tours, or has enough time to really play them. Setting a limit that will take years for so many players is overkill

I agree with this, with one exception: the Streetpass badge.

I have at least bronze in every category except for Streetpass. I think the expectations for that one are unrealistic.

Well I can't even get the streetpass medal, barely anyone in Denmark got 3DS's, and nobody got Animal Crossing, I always had the Danish Island all for myself, I'd use it to farm special medal prizes, and never even saw another player even though I've spent hours there, I've also only ever gotten a single streetpass not counting my brother haha.

I agree that seems absurd, EmGee. Some of the badge numbers seem a bit out of whack. A few months ago I thought it would be fun to go for at least the bronze in every category with my oldest town/mayor, just to say I had done it. I'm beginning to think I am silly to continue to try for the bronze for picking weeds. And I have a player friend who is graciously TT in a town to reset weeds so my mayor can come and pick them. Only 500 for the bronze! 5000 for the gold! Make 10 million bells on the Stalk Market for the gold badge? I don't think so! I have many gold badges that did not require that kind of time and effort. My towns will be long finished and made Dream Towns before I could ever hope to reach those kinds of numbers.

Pretty sure the info on that link is inaccurate, though. The medal badge numbers don't match any other sources I've seen, for starters. And It says 3000 balloons for the gold balloon badge. I've got the gold, I haven't popped anywhere near that many balloons

I only feel that way about the streetpass one. I have gold in almost every badge space, but the spot for the streetpass badge is empty. I will never get even the bronze streetpass badge, even though I've been playing this game since the release date....

^ I can relate. At least the gap where the badge would be is off to the side instead of right in the middle.

Streetpass. Mainly because not a lot people take them out and if they did you could get them at ninty zones that are now shut down.. so unless you have 2 or more consoles with copies you're dead unless you cheat.

also weed unless you've the same as above or have someone who can let you help all day every day.

Some are easy - the gold badge for popping balloons is only 200.
Nothing you do on tours counts towards badges. What you catch on the island tho can/does. (well apart from the badge for medals you get from tours)

I don't over bother with them, pleased to se Phineas & get them, but I don't play this game to complete it in any way. Its just something I play for an hour or so, my golden bubble time away from the real world.
But I do get others play to complete and strive for as many gold as possible.
