Does anyone else sometimes get a different vibe or feel from two different villagers, even if they share the same personality?

On my island, I have two smugs; Pietro and Lopez. Lopez has been here longer and I’ve tried to jive with him, but ever since Pietro moved in, I hardly bother talking to Lopez anymore. Everything he says is a bit bland compared to Pietro’s dialogue. Heck, on Pietro’s first day he was already asking me what future career I wanted and trying to recruit me for his band, “Honk Honk Revolution”! xD When I talk to Lopez, the conversations are usually very short and lackluster compared to Pietro. Lopez also acts more weirded out if I talk to him too much.

It’s probably a weird coincidence, but Pietro just seems so much more friendly and interesting than Lopez conversation-wise. Has anyone else experienced this?

Well, their hobbies will likely be different. I have both Snake and Bam and they definitely do different things. Snake is often really active in fishing and working out, while Bam talks about more variety of things compared to Snake but Bam likes to sit.. a lot. Pretty lazy for a Jock.

i can't relate, at least not yet. paolo and puck act exactly the same lmao, kinda why im probably gonna let paolo walk when he asks, even though i like his design

Well, Ankha and Robin (both Snooty) act pretty different for me. Ankha likes fishing and hunting bugs, and tends to enjoy my company no matter how much I speak to her. Robin prefers to wander the island, exercise, sit around, or stay indoors, and acts a bit more grumpy when I talk to her more than twice in a day.

I wonder how much of that is because I got Ankha from Amiibo and Robin via Mystery Island?

It could also be that their zodiac signs are coming into play with your character's. I suspected this might have been a thing even in New Leaf when my interactions with Ankha, Whitney, and Baarbra(sp?) were all vastly different despite all being snooty. Heck, I noticed a weird overall tone change when I had Flora in two of my towns at once but it was like I was talking to two different flamingoes..err.. ostriches! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I get the same dialogue from both Filbert and Zucker (eta: they're both lazies) but I think Filbert's design makes him more emotive and expressive and I LOVE him so much I don't even bother talking to Zucker lol

Since NL, I’ve noticed this. There was a time I’ve had both Marshal and Julian in town and my interactions with each of them have been vastly different and that was NL where dialogue was so repetitive. Now I have both Zucker and Stitches and they’re both cute little darlings but yes, interactions with each of them aren’t the same.

I think so. At least that's what I experience. There is repeat dialogue sometimes (especially right now for stupid bunny day). But they all give me individuality in other ways. For example, I have Raymond and Julian and both give me completely different vibes. Julian is a good friend and flamboyant while Raymond is more flirty and smart. Same with Roscoe and Lobo, Diana and Judy, and Sherb and Erik. I know a lot of people feel like it's important to have one of each personality type in your village for variety but I feel like all of my villagers are different from one another even if they are the same personality.

I've noticed variation in the villagers' interactions with the game world, but not so much with the dialogue. My two normal villagers, Lolly and Daisy, act pretty much identically when I speak to them, but I see Lolly doing things Daisy never has and vise versa. That might totally be RNG.

Now that I think about it, yes! I have 3 smugs (lmfaooo). Huck, Marshal, and Zell. Huck is the least smug, and is probably the most unique villager I have. He's always happy, and is always chatting with other villagers. He isn't very flirtatious either. He's more goof-ball like. Zell is your typical flirt "future celebrity" type of smug. Marshal is sort of in between! Activity wise- Marshal works out the most while Huck and Zell very rarely do exercises!

I have Snake and Roald. Roald behaves pretty much like you'd expect a jock to, but Snake strikes me as more of a lazy. He's sweet, but that little ninja head of his is pretty empty. :)

I'm planning to move Sally and Gruff in, so it'll be interesting to see how they compare with Lolly and Dobie.

I had five lazy villagers and they definitely acted different. Beau constantly sent me clothes, Zucker constantly talks to me about food, Al was just being Al lmao, etc. The differences between all of them was so cute.

I have both Marshal and Zell too and they immediately came to mind! Zell seems much more egotistical and spends all his time singing. Marshal spends more time indoors and seems a little bit less big headed, but maybe a little less friendly too, but I prefer him. I’ve never been the biggest fan of the smug personality anyway, so I’ll only have one as time goes on. I have two Jocks and Genji is less naive than Dom, Dom spends a lot of time just running and Genji spends a lot more time working out, but their expressions make a difference there because they are so different. Also, of the normals I’ve had, Molly talked about books a lot more than Skye and Fauna do, but I can see less difference between them overall.

I noticed the same thing, but I thought I was just imagining it. I have multiple normal villagers, but they act very different. Stella is mostly mellow and laid-back, whereas Lily is constantly doing weird things, like examining flowers while experiencing at least 176 different emotions. I also could not figure out what personality Tex had for at least a week.

Kinda. I have 3 lazy villagers (Ozzie, Zucker and Walker) and Zucker is different than the other two. Walker and Ozzie are more similar.

Definitely noticed this! I have 3 normals in my town (I know idk what I was thinking), but honestly all 3 still behave differently. Megan loves watering/studying flowers and doing exercises, Fauna seems very reserved and tends to stay in her house a lot, whereas Maple absolutely loves to read, even outside.

I’ve always thought Nintendo ought to have a Script A, a Script B and maybe a Script C for all personality types. Your animals get randomly assigned one, and if you get another, they get one of the other two. It would be more work for them, but how hard could it be to write dialog?
