I think it also has to do with people duping. So nearly no one is paying more than a million or so for things earned with higher worth.

Yeah, duping really has ruined the game. Extremely rare sets like the sloppy series and cardboard set has lost their worth because of duping. Extremely difficult to obtain furniture series must be extremely difficult to obtain.
At the same time though, I guess I can be personally grateful,
as I barely get time to play like I used to.
Luckily people who have this situation get the chance to get them, I guess.
