I've got Fuchsia trapped in four holes, and every time I go up to her, she doesn't ping. Sometimes other villagers don't ping. This is after I get stung by the jellyfish a few times. I don't care about other villagers at the moment, just Fuchsia, because I want some uchi PWPs. So far she hasn't pinged. Am I supposed to free her so she can speak or what?

Do you talk to her regularly like 5X a day? If you don't she would be less likely to ping on you.

Have you been playing for a while? They usually don't ping you if you've been playing for a long time. Maybe try talking to someone else, and get that, "You should take a rest!" dialogue before trying to get pings from the villagers.

I got her recently. I don't like that uchis sleep in till 11 o'clock, so I haven't had the chance to talk to her very much. But say I have, would she still ping when she's trapped where I want her?

They can ping while trapped. Stay out of her sight for 5 minutes, but longer than that (I do 10 minutes, but have gotten pings at 8 minutes) if you recently talked/pinged from her. Villagers seem more likely to ping me if I run past instead of walk. If you've been playing for over an hour, villagers will not ping until you talk to one and they tell you to take a break.

I've also noticed that they seem to ping more if i run.

but yeah they definitely ping whilst trapped. I had poor skye trapped for a couple of hours to get pwp's out of her

Save and quit, and walk in front of all of your villagers again. One of them may be planning on moving without pinging.

I've noticed this too. Friendship level isn't high enough I assume. :/ It's annoying af.

I always just take a nice long swim and fill up my inventory with deep-sea creatures while trying to catch a scallop for Pascal. This usually keeps me away long enough to encourage a ping. Plus, I can make a few bells or get a piece of Pascal's set. c:
