Okay, so I just got my second copy of AC:NL, and I'm likely to use it for cycling, so I was wondering-- Will time traveling in it (to move in/out villagers) affect my main copy of the game, or can I move the clock back to the last date I played it on and everything will be fine?

..This is probably a stupid question, pfft.

As long as you move back, the game won't know anything on your main town!! I did that for a couple days before I hijacked my sister's DS!

beat me to it but yeah, what the above person said ^.^ if you're only using the 2nd copy for cycling, I'd recommend just changing the in game clock ~

Ahh, thanks for the info! I want to cycle without the fear of losing what few dreamies I have in my main town, hehe.
You were a big help, thanks again. <3

If you TT in your second town using the ingame clock, nothing will happen to your main town. Using the ingame clock affects only the town you changed the time in.

If you TT using the 3DS clock, will affect both copies, as well as any other games you have. You can change the clock back to the last date you played and your main town will be like nothing ever happened as long as you don't load up the town with your mayor or another pre-existing character.

Not completely understanding what you mean here, sorry! Care to explain? :c

Using my towns as an example:

Magnolia is my main town and Fiore is my TTing town. If I were to set the time forward by 5 days by using the 3DS clock, time in both towns would change since the ingame time is tied to the 3DS's time. I could TT around in Fiore, as intended.

If you log in with your mayor or pre-existing character, it saves the town automatically as it loads up.

So if I were to load up Magnolia before changing the 3DS date back to the original date, it would save the new date too. Basically unintentional TTing.

they might be talking about the digital copy :/

Would affect a cartrige too, as long as it's in the same 3DS.

Ahh! Sorry, I completely blanked for a second. I have two physical copies, and they're both labeled, so I'm fairly certain I'll remember to change the times before switching them out. Thanks for the explanation and the help!

No worries. (: I have two physical copies as well, but I thought I'd warn you/others about the possibility of unintentional TTing. (I almost did it once...)

Best of luck with your future cycling!

so if a single 3ds was used for 2 cartridge copies, it could also be affected? wouldn't an SD card be involved, in this case?

Yes, since ingame time is tied to the 3DS' time. An SD card doesn't play any role with it, as far as I know?

It can affect cartridges being played in multiple 3DSs as well. A while ago, my 3DS time was off from my boyfriend's 3DS by an hour. So if it was 10AM in my town in my 3DS, and then I stuck the cartridge in his 3DS, it was suddenly 9AM in my town.

ah, i see. i believe the game only follows whatever time it is in whichever 3DS. I don't have an SD card atm, so i cant really 'update data', use streetpass, nor get DLC, so perhaps the two games wouldn't corrupt if i were to use only one 3DS excluding the SD card?
