A question about the town tree

I got my 500 hours of playing a long time ago, so when a villager pinged to move out I decided to TT two years ahead to get my tree the biggest size. I think the requirement for this is 500 days and 500 hours? However, when I reached 2016 (I did the TTing in one big leap), my tree hadn't grown... All that happened was my grass grew again and Isabelle said that I'd been away for a while. When I TTed back to the original date, all my villagers remembered me, and other than the perfect grass, it was as if the TTing had never happened? Please could someone enlighten me on how to get my tree to the full size? Sorry if this is a stupid question

I think I read somewhere that the total hours will only count on your mayor (not too sure), it could be the read why? Hopefully someone will come in with more info to help you!

Ahh thank you! I very rarely use my side characters but this could be one of the reasons, thank you again!

Oh btw try this trick xD not sure if it works but then you can TT using ds clock and go to 2016, check with new character and if nobody move out, save that character, quit and login your mayor, not sure if this will work o.o

I thought you had to actually play on 500 different days. When you TT, you're not actually playing those days, so I don't think they count.

Edit: not completely sure on this, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you! I think this is probably the most likely reason that it won't grow, so if this is true then I'll just wait for it to grow by itself.

Beacause you did a huge leap in one go it only counts as 1 day rather then 2 years
