So recently, I've reeealllyy taken a liking to Kabuki. I was never keen on him before, but when I did a little more research on him, I learned that he is actually a lot more interesting than I may have thought. But here's the dilemma...

I love cats, irl and in AC. Cats and deer are my favourite species in the game, so I need at least one of each in my town. The cat I have right now is Rudy. He's an adorable lil' cat and I fell in love with him the moment I laid my eyes on him. However, if I get Kabuki, I'll have to give him the boot, so I'm wondering what to do from here.

Here are some reasons I want to get Kabuki:
-I love cats
-He is based on a Japanese style of theatre known as 'Kabuki', and since I am a theatre person and love performing on stage in plays, I think we'd hit it off real well!
-He's one of those misunderstood villagers, like Rolf, who looks scary and intimidating but is an actual sweetheart. That's why I love crankies so much! Give 'em a chance and they'll give you one too.
-His markings kinda remind me of the ones on my kitty (my cat Lenny is a maine coon and has stripes on his cheeks and forehead, kinda like Kabuki does)

Here are some reasons why it may not be a good idea:
-I really love Rudy
-I already have 3 crankies in my town (Lobo, Rolf and Avery) so if I get Kabuki that will bring it to 4 crankies.
-I'm worried I may start missing Rudy and won't be able to get him back after the stupid 16 cycle

So what do you think? Judging from these factors, is Kabuki worth it for me? I really think he's a cool cat, but I'm still having cold feet on sacrificing Rudy. PS. I cannot get rid any of the other crankies in my town. They are my BFFLS and will be staying forever, so no suggestions on that please.

idk 4 crankies is a little excessive imo even if they are my favorites. I dont think you should take him in exchange for rudy if youre having doubts like this, you might end up regretting it. wait until you honestly feel ready to move on and replace rudy.

I say keep Rudy and love Kabuki from afar. If you start to miss Rudy you may never get him back and you will be stuck with four cranky villagers. That seems too much, especially since you don't want to move another cranky out.
I say keep him as a back up plan in case someone leaves accidentally one day. :3

It sounds to me like you have a lot of personal reasons for wanting Kabuki, and the reasons that you want to keep Rudy instead are more just to balance your game.

I know I like to have an even balance of villagers too, but if it's someone that you feel you have that strong of a connection with, I think you should go with him! (Him being Kabuki, of course).

It depends how much you ACTUALLY love Rudy, rather than your other reasons for keeping him around.

Edited to say: 4 crankys is a lot, but it's your town and your choice. Do you need an even 5 female/5 male ratio? Because you could add more male personality types if not.

Also wondering just for curiosity sake, which other crankys do you have??

Yeah, maybe that's a good idea. I just wish I had one more spot! He's so cool... ugh -_-

Yeah, I suppose you're right. I don't NEED balance, but 4 crankies could get a tad excessive. They're my favourite male personality though so it may not be all bad. Hm...

My other crankies are Rolf, Avery and Lobo, who I love to pieces.

4 of any personality is really excessive imo considering that's almost half your villagers...
I really really love Rudy too so I'd keep him if I was you!

Oh I love Rolf and Lobo, no wonder you won't give them up! If cranky is your favourite, it might be worth it. But I personally wouldn't do it unless you were willing to sacrifice some female villagers to add in more variety for the male villagers.

Effluo had a good idea I think, leave it be as it is, and if someone ever moves accidentally, you can try again at that time for Kabuki.

I had this same sort of problem with Prince the Frog, because I call my boyfriend my frog prince... and he's super lazy... but I don't like frogs very much in terms of AC. So I'm still on the fence about that one, lol. I think it would be cool to have a villager that means something to you in the real world.

Yeah, maybe. I'm trying to bid for him in an auction so I can at least hold him in my cycle town, so if I happen to change my mind, I can deal with it then.

Yeah almost all my villagers mean something to me. Lobo and Whitney are inspired (by me) by the story 'Lobo the King of Currampaw', a story about a wolf named Lobo and his ongoing battle trying to survive on a farmer's cattle and how the farmer eventually kills his lover Blanca. I made Whitney represent Blanca and put her house next to Lobo's :3

Rolf is a white tiger and I just think they are beautiful animals, whereas Avery is based on native american designs and is significant because I'm Canadian and find native history very ineteresting (as well as upsetting). Poppy reminds me of the baby red squirrels at my cottage that I feed peanuts every summer. I love villagers like that, but I feel I only have Rudy cuz he's cute and nothing more... whereas Kabuki is a cat I can connect with more. But SO MANY CRANKIES AH. Why life... why.

Yeah, I usually hold villagers in my second town long before I can actually transfer them to my main town, but at least that way you know they will be safe. That sounds like your best bet, I wish you the best of luck in your auction. If you don't get him today, you can keep your eyes peeled to get him into your cycling town later on, too.

Aww that's adorable about all your stories, where in Canada are you from? I live in AB! I used to have Erik listed as a dreamie, it's actually him and Prince that I try to decide between, lol. (Edit to add: I threw this is in because I know a lot of Canadians like Erik for his moose-y look)

(And as a side note, for one of my political science classes in University, I wrote a paper titled, "Civil Disobedience by First Nations: Justified?" -- my thesis of course, said yes.)

I'm not one that gets real attached to villagers, but when I almost lost Grizzly last night, It kind of scared me.lol.

I would not have been too happy, and I know I would have missed him.He has been in my town for almost a year.

Haha you're lucky. I get super, super attached to my villagers. Even when I'm in the process of making room for a dreamie, I find it hard to say goodbye to the ones that have to leave to make space for them.

Wow, that's so cool! I'm from ONT, I was born in Toronto but lived in Chicago and Sweden for a few years for my mom's work. I have a cottage up north and that's actually a lot of inspiration behind my town since it's named after the lake it's on. :)

Erik is also one of my villagers! And yes it has a lot to do with the Canadian look lol. His house and moose-y look certainly fit with that! And whoa, that's really cool. One of my peers did a presentation on native history and assimilation and it was enough to make me cry.

Oh that's awesome, quite the world traveler! I would love to visit Sweden, I'm fairly jealous to hear that. People who live there are stunningly good looking from what I've seen.

That's so funny you have Erik! What a little charmer. I probably won't be able to get him unless I get him in my cycling town, he sells for crazy amounts on here that I just can't afford lol.

Aww it is really sad. They've had some real hardships over the years by the government, and they didn't even formally apologize until 2006 I think it was.

Haha I was really young when I lived there (moved there when I was three and moved back to the great north when I was eight). But it was such a great experience! The people were very friendly, plus I lived by the ocean and had a nice little forest near my house, so it was the best of both worlds. You could go for a bike ride along the sea or go for a peaceful walk in the woods! :3 I also became fluent in swedish while living there (but I've forgotten it all now lol)

Ah Erik is the best! Wouldn't be the same without him, I love his moosey design. He really fits my northern forest town, along with Fauna. I hope you can get him, he's the essential Canadian villager lol.

For sure. It's sad because I used to judge them because a lot of them are into crime and drugs, but after the whole thing in the 20's with the boarding schools, they were scarred for life and resorted to drinking and drugs to deal with it and it just became a cultural norm, which is really sad. I can't get over some of the stuff that went on in those schools... and it bothers me that we never learn about it in our history courses. I'm a grade 11 high school student and I've not learned one thing about the treatment of the natives in any history course I've taken. It's a shame.

why can't you keep both >>

Cuz I don't have room and I'd have to kick out one of my villagers to do so, and that would probably have to be Rudy. But I have another solution now; I'm going to keep Rudy in Rosseau, and move Rolf to K?rnan (my other town) so I can get Kabuki! :)
