I just wanted to share with you guys a new take I have on this game. Typically, I am an impatient time traveler who quickly becomes bored with a town and resets because the work I need to do to fix it becomes too much to handle and I want to start fresh. I spend all my time either time traveling or plot resetting, and I found myself not having enough FUN! So I decided to find a new perspective. With the exception of changing the time of day, I have not time traveled in over a week now. I do daily tasks like run my soon to be dirt paths (which are finally starting to show btw yeeeeee!), I talk to my villagers, visit the shops, and just take my time. It's made me enjoy the game rather than spend all my time TTing for one reason or another. I also haven't had the urge to reset. If I don't like something, I've learned to get creative and work around it. I did make sure I really loved the map first, but still. I know many of you on here have this same habit and I just wanted to let you know that even though it's hard to break the habit, it's really worth it! As far as plot resetting goes, that's inevitable. I grow lots of hybrids and with the dirt paths starting to form I don't want someone to ruin it. But since I don't tt I don't have to worry about it as often! Anyway I just wanted to say this and hope it helps someone with this habit. Anyone have any other "bad habits" they'd like to try to kick? ^.^

good for you!! i always think that (esp in acnl) slow and steady wins the race- aka when you stop trying to make things move fast, you enjoy the game more

super glad you've been feeling at peace about your town hehe

i've never really had the habit of wanting to rush stuff in town / reset, but i do have bad habits in game- i'm a total hoarder and i'm trying to kick it by selling all the orderable stuff in my storage even if i'm like "but i might nEED it later" and i'm planning a sale / giveaway of my unused unorderables. even if they're rare, i'm not using them and i need to make myself get rid of them! haha

I really love this sort of mindset and play style! I TT a lot, especially in my current main town. It was set several months in the past, though, so I don't mind TT'ing as much as it gradually gets me caught up to the real date lol. I'm also mostly doing it to unlock PwPs right now >.<

But I have a second copy of the game I plan to reset soon and I'd really like to strive to play it like this; slow and without tt'ing, how the game is meant to be played.

Thank you! And yes I would time travel for Pwp requests too! As soon as I got one I'd TT to the next day. I would also travel to scan more RV's, move villagers out quicker, find someone I like in the camp site, you name it! It was not fun anymore lol. I am really enjoying this new play style. I admit I did time travel in the beginning of this town, but decided to slow down and just enjoy the game for what it is. Being behind on the date would bother me too lol so that's a good excuse! :P I have a second copy of the game, but I have it mainly for when I get the urge to reset. I'd like to start up a town but since my current town is a WIP I'd probably just get too overwhelmed haha!

Thanks for the kind words :D

And yes I have that same habit, to an extent. I don't keep any orderables I don't plan to use in the immediate future, because I'll just order it off the catalogue. But I hoard unorderables even if I really don't see when I will use them. Yeah, I do the occasional For Sale thread on retail too so at least I can get some tbt or good trades for them though haha :)

I find the game boring and can't play for a few hours if I don't tt, but I tend to do it through the system's settings instead of the game itself, that way I don't lose any benefits and can tell what was the last date I played on

Good for you! It can be tough, especially since most games (and our lives) are driven by instant results, but I think the slower pace of AC is enjoyable, once you settle into it.

Waiting for dirt paths to wear down and for trees and bushes to grow can be hard, but I think that each day I replace 3 markers with a tree and 2 bushes, and slowly I'm seeing the progress. Paths that I thought would never wear down are suddenly jumping ahead to patchy grass and bare spots. And my house is slowly coming together, which lets me plan what I want and make sure each item really fits before committing to an entire room.

My tting is usually just changing the time but not the day. I missed playing last week so I went back and played through the days fast. When I made this new town I has intended to tt for a full game year to do all the festivals and get the holiday items(I lost my original town so I wanted to get some stuff back quick) but that didn't happen. I liked some of my villagers and didn't want to lose them so I am playing normal. I do get bored with the game though. Early on where I'm at with my town your game play revolves around home upgrades and getting perfect town which involves pwps. The only way to make good money quick is beetle/shark hunting on island(I feel like I see more of them on the island than my beach/ocean). But that gets boring and tedious fast and it gets annoying that you constantly gotta make money for something. I really hope in the next version that they come up with another way to get pwps that doesnt involve us having to pay for it all.

My way of playing is just to let the game happen naturally. I avoid TTing, I also won't plot reset, and stuff like that. I just let my town be a natural town. It really helps you to stop and enjoy the little things in the game. :)
