Well then, after only playing this game for 4 days (I had AC many years ago when the DS Lite was out lol)
I have discovered there's more to this game than meets the eye. I literally just thought you played for fun but there's actually a lot more to it! Dreamies(?) dream addresses (?) growing hybrids, I just .. Wow haha!
Can anyone tell me like the actual aim of the game?
I've played for 4 days, managed to expand my house and in the middle of paying off the expansion... I go round shaking trees, finding money and gem rock, do some deep sea diving at the island and bug hunting and then I turn off my DS for a few hours and then go back and do the same thing apart from rocks as I already done that... What else is there to do? I really want to be so into the game like everyone on here but running out of ideas!!!
Big help would be much my appreciated! Thanks :)

Also if anyone would like to visit my town and give me some pointers just let me know and I'll give you my code!

I think most people consider their goal while playing to complete their town, having it look exactly like they want. But AC is best when played for an hour or so a day; the changing seasons mean different fish and bugs are available, and your villagers will move in and out (if you befriend them enough, they'll give you their picture, which is something to strive towards). You can develop your Main Street (I've played for over 500 hours and still haven't unlocked Katrina!) and you can try and complete your badge collection, which takes forever, too.

Welcome to the wonderfully addicting world of AC!

There's so much to do as well as all the things you have mentioned. Running errands for your villagers, or writing them letters! Designing clothes at the Able Sister's shop. Decorating your house. Filling your museum. Visiting the island once you can. Just enjoy it :)

Save up for the Dreamsuite public works project. Look at some 10/10 dream towns that have been worked on for 500+ hours like the mystery towns.
This will answer all your questions. Once you see the phenomenal jobs people have done creating "dream towns" you'll actually have too much to do.

I can relate a lot to you! I used to play ACWW years ago. After a long long while i decided to get a 3ds along with ACNL and was so amazed by how many more things I could do on this game! What really captivated me the most was the diversity and customizing of the palettes on the designs you can make, and the wide range of possibilities of themes you can mold your town into. Theres the collecting of badges, public works projects you can work towards (there are so many beautiful projects), getting all the shops on main street, completing all your museum exhibits, designing clothing and patterns, expanding your home, theme(ing) your town (like for example making it a forest themed town, blossom themed, season themed, any themed lol.) trading your favorite villagers and items with other players, playing at the island..theres much more to it that this! I hope you enjoy the game as you play :)

Go on tours that will let you take bugs/fishing items back to your museum. There are a lot of summer bug/fish that you can take home. Some you'll have to wait for. Try the hide n seek, easy gardening and scavenger hunt. I think the fossil hunter or the ore one might let you take items back. The hide n seek and fossil hunter are longest tour.

The QR machine will get unlocked and you'll be able to get QR patterns for clothing and pathways. Make an extra character if you go with a pathway that takes a lot of tiles. Start an perfect fruit orchard for some extra bells or to keep your villagers happy. Just plant them where house can't drop.

As soon as you can add a PWP put one in. It takes along time to get all the PWP by the villagers.
