Yay more PR confusion! Anyways I recently got Marshal feeling confident in my plot resetting... seing as how I set all the mats for the planned plots and layed fountains everywhere else. ANYWAYS, I kept dealing with the dumb "pattern" issue again and heard of things:

Mats cannot be set where the doorway is supposed to be. I heard this was a common mistake and I figured it may be a problem since I have my large area covered with patterns. :/ It's not just 3x3 it's both the area of the actual house and the space around that's needed. So yeah I have that part covered but can somebody confirm to me whether this is true or not?

I also heard you can never get an exact location for the 3x3 house which bugs me. :x

You can actually cover the part where the door is supposed to go and be fine, so leaving only a 3x3 square is okay. It's how I do my house placements most of the time. If you want to do a 3x3 and then just erase the one square where the door is going to go, that's fine too.

You can place villagers exactly where you want to as long as there are less than three buildings in an "acre" (squares that your map is divided into, basically).

You also need to be sure that your 3x3 isn't too close to other things, like rocks, PWPs, rivers, and other houses. Villager homes need at least two spaces from one another because they each have their own extra "buffer" zones to prevent things from being too close to one another. This is 3 spaces vertically, though, because of the extra square for the door.

You can place a villager home only one space away from cliffs overlooking the beach (from the side, anyway, I don't know about homes overlooking the beaches facing south, but I'd imagine it would have to be at least two squares away from the edge, again because of the door).

So far it's been the same spots over and over but nowhere near the area I want. The area I want is covered up with design mats I set but Marshal's house isn't even touching it. It just keeps going in the same damb plots everytime. I could show pics if that helps?

Sorry, but I am very bad at this lmaoooo. I think I found a location that is close enough....
