A bit of a passive aggressive reminder...

I've noticed that the community has been incredibly rude and cruel to those who time travel. I'd like to remind all the purists who look down on other with condescension that it doesn't effect you! You have NO right to be awful to folks over time travelling. Especially given the isolation many people are facing. It's a lot easoer not to time travel when someone actually has stuff to do throughout the day. When you're no longer allowed to leave the house finding things to do is considerably more difficult.

Please be considerate to others rather than being awful to people who honestly haven't done anything wrong, regardless on if you personally time travel or not.

I don’t get the hate towards time travelers. I’m not time traveling in this game, but this is the first time I haven’t. I’ve time traveled in every game since GameCube. It’s not hurting anyone.

One could complain about that for most games, but I don't see folks calling other people slurs for posting screenshots from the new ff7 demo, ykno, like people have at folks who time travel on twitter. Even going as far as to say that one's town is worthless if one time travels.

I've time traveled a lot during animal crossing games! in new leaf i was a time traveling fiend!! and i time traveled in this game too, mainly just to get hourly music, the museum, and to test moving amiibos in. But one thing I wish more people would do as a general unspoken rule if time traveling (which there is nothing at all wrong with in and of itself) and online trading/playing this early into the games release is warn visitors that their town is ahead x amount of time and that there may be spoilers. because i got the sakura trees spoiled for me, which is something i was probably the most excited about waking up to soon to see for the first time.

edit: i dont think its right though for people to say mean things, the game is very open format and meant to be enjoyed for the most part exactly how you want to enjoy it

i don’t see why people are so against time travellers - sure, it’s perfectly okay to not want spoilers and to want to play the game your way, but as long as you’re not being spoiled, what’s the big deal? people time travelling doesn’t affect you.

Perfectly reasonable! Even I would be willing to clarify as such! However, I cross the line when people are being awful to people who time travel for no reason. One shouldn't be shamed for playing a game how they want, and unfortunately a lot of purists in the community are being bullies over a game.

To be honest, I'd say this community is nowhere near as rude and condescending as the other much more toxic forums out there. Sure, some nasty disagreements here and there but my goodness, you'd see Time Travel debates hijack every topic in the other forums.

Ah yes, that is true, but it seems that they'd rather separate themselves, given how theyre acting towards people. Most people being adults as well. If they're going to treat others poorly then they should expect the same in return. I do agree, nobody really cared about time travel in New Leaf, but now that there's a new game it seems you're the scum of the earth if you do TT, and its plain unfair.

It's not just on here though, people on twitter are using slurs against people who time travel, and on tumblr apparently if you time travel or not determines if you can be friends with someone.

Quite frankly I'm incredibly disappointed with how awful people are being treated over an inconsequential action in a video game. It's not like they're forcibly hacking the game, when they're just changing the time.

Unless people spoil things, time travelling is no big deal IMO. Especially right now. Quarantine sucks, and once you finish all your daily tasks, of course people will want to continue the fun without waiting. Also, I saw a credible twitter post I'm too lazy to find saying the developers (Aya Kyogoku I think, the lead director for the game) don't classify time travelling as cheating. So... There you have it I guess. Theres a bunch of different ways to play the game, time travelling is just another way of playing.

I love to TT, and also it has been vital in past games.

It doesn't affect anyone else's game, so I don't understand the hate.

i feel like people are so upset over time traveling in this game is due to the fact that everyone is actually experiencing it at the same time. in new leaf, japan (or all of asia ?) got the game first, so when it came to other countries it was technically released for over a year and people wanted to time travel to all the cool stuff. im not trying to say that the way they're acting is justified (name-calling and insulting people are never good things to do), but that may be why people are more up in arms this time around.

Its understandable why theyd be upset about it,.and while i personally cant relate (im more of a spoiler make me excited, and im impatient in this quarentined state kinda person), being terrible people over something stupid is, well, stupid. No offense but I have not really seen many people being rude to TT. In my opinion AC games are supposed to be like real life so thats how I play them in order to save all the fun for other days as well. Plus going along with what Romaki said things can be spoiled by time traveling and there is probably a reason why Nintendo is having updates for ACNH for events and stuff.

Honestly this thread suprised me because I can't say I've really seen that kind of negativity around these forums. Some people have opinions, but they've kept their different opinions to a peaceful level, even if they don't agree.
