Hi
i have been looking at other islands and now decided that I would love to reset but should I? I have come so far, onto my third house mortgage, i have a 3 rating and not to mention all the hard work over Easter creating all my bunny furniture and clothes. Also many hours spent catching a Tarantulas when you could clear any mystery island and was over run by our 8 legged friends. I really want a new island but do I risk it.
Since you're looking for opinions, the only thing I'll say is that I could/would never consider resetting. But if you have the time and desire, go right ahead.
I'm someone who did end up resetting, but what specifically about other people's islands has given you the desire to reset? If it's simply their decor, you can always work towards achieving that. The only reason I would really recommend anyone reset is if it's for aspects of the map that cannot be changed. For example, one of the many reasons I eventually ended up resetting was because after unlocking terraforming, I realized how much I hated the location of my plaza
The only things resetting will get you is different color airport/plane, different placement for town hall, and different placement for river mouths/beach shape/rocks. You can literally change everything else. Is it worth losing your progress to change those things? It's up to you.
I personally say no for my own island. I've put in hundreds of hours in already.
what about your island don't you like? if it's permanent features like river outlets and resident services place, then yeah, you should go ahead to reset it because you can't change those. but if you're comparing development between your island and others, try redesigning your island first! i know that sometimes it's overwhelming to see all these developed islands that seem to have better designs, but you always have the power to redecorate your island to your satisfaction. but if you're still dissatisfied even after redesigning, then i say go reset. you can always have a friend hold all your items until you settle into a map.
The only pro for me resetting my island would be a different beach shape, but I adore everything else about it, and it's not worth erasing a month's worth of progress, and 200+ hours... [I can feel the Nook's Cranny upgrade in my bones...].
I've reset my island twice. First time it was because I wasn't happy with my island and the second time was because I needed to time travel to unlock the "bedhead" hair, but I didn't want to progress my island's 'story' too much, and I did have a few things about my new island I didn't like so I opted to restart again and time travel during the "day 1 prologue" since there'd be no progression gained. Happy with the island I got, too.
Yeah your right I think resetting maybe a bit drastic not to mention all the bells I have saved, bugs, fish and fossils collected I may redesign my rivers thanks guys x
