80s/90s Theme Island advice

I have finally decided to make my island a 80s Tokyo island from the inspiration of my favorite manga Tokyo Babylon, but I'm not sure how to make it 80s theme...I started making my resident area and have a few areas decorated but I don't really know where to go from there?

80s...your best bet is bright colors. You're gonna want to get some simple panels and throw some custom designs on them.

Maybe some of the diner set can match the 80’s theme.
Like the neon sign from it.

Personally I’d think maybe the arcade games, possibly some of the ice creams ?? Diner items have already been mentioned but they’d probably work well.

and....i can’t think of any good particular items off the top of my head, but some of the ones that can be customized. Some of the patterns you receive might work in nicely c:

Neon sign and soft serve lights. I would also go with race car beds for those old drifters

I will defiantly use the neon sign and soft serve lights, I have a arcade area so that's coming along pretty good and I have the simple panels so I will see what i can do with those

Maybe also look at 80s ahd 90s aesthetics such as vaporwave for inspiration. I used Sailor moon as an inspiration for my magical boy island. Aaah.

For some reason one thing that comes to my mind is the cyber suit and shades, which reminds me of tron? And could be expanded into maybe something cyberpunk/ arcade-y ala hackers?
The custom design shown in the header of this list collecting custom paths seems like it would be fun:

make sure you use the light up palmtree diy!!!

servers also make for awesome forced perspective/background lights!!! drink + snack machines are also really good sources of ambient light that look cool at nighttime. attaching some pics of my island that i think show off how cool servers can look. (the godzilla vs robot one is a little outdated now but the idea's still there lol)

if you're not averse to looking at videos of other peoples islands for inspiration i'd be happy to pm you a few youtube + twitter links to some of my favourite retro japan-style islands! i get not wanting to compare your island to others' though so no pressure

personally i love these codes and i think they'd fit with your island theme style too! they're highly creative and really evoke that neon synth and arcade feel
