I wanted to see what it was like to live the way our animal friends do! So I wiped my town and started from scratch, upgraded my tent to a house, and then upgraded my house, but just once! I want to live as mayor of Teapot on equal footing as my constituents! A 6x6 one-roomed house is all I get, same as everyone else in my town!

Has anyone else ever tried a challenge like this, or would you like to share your own self-imposed ACNL challenges?

It's actually kind of nice, so far? I even got on HHD and put together what I want my house, ideally, to look like! You sacrifice the Happy Home Academy rewards, of course, but I think it's worth it for the challenge of it!

if you do try it, i'd love to see screenshots of your home! mine's a bit of a mess atm but it's kind of cute hahaha

This honestly sounds like a neat idea, but I'm a packrat, lol! Maybe like on a side character I could attempt something like that, I think that would be fun and more than just making them to store paths / designs and other things on.

Haha, I understand! I'm quite the packrat myself, but I think that's what makes this challenge so fun! I really have to be concscious of what stuff I keep in my home, my storage, and what I just have to part ways with! It also gives me the chance to constantly reinvent my home around a certain object or theme!

I'm gonna try this.

6x6 space, I'm gonna turn it into my own museum display.
Well honestly there's not many furniture sets I even like. [Only Modern wood, Sleek, Rococo, Classic sometimes.]

I tend to lean towards those sets, myself, but I also like to mix and match and make spaces that really seem like they suit me, you know?

I love this idea! I may not attempt it in this town as I just barely got ideas for all the rooms in my mayor's house but I might try it with my side characters, depending on whether or not I have more ideas :)

Yes! I did something similar in one of my towns because the villagers kept moving RIGHT NEXT to my mayors house on almost all sides. It felt weird to have them having their sized house next to a castle or mansion, so I kept the house small.

It was a challenge for sure!! If I reset a town and had a theme I would do it again! It sure is a mental puzzle in the skills of minimalism

I do this, though I don't see it as a challenge. I just love the smaller houses much more than the large ones. I think they look cuter from the outside and I find it much easier to only have one room to decorate, so I just change it with the seasons. Right now I'm gathering cabin furniture for my Christmas-themed house :)

I love my little 6x6 house ^^

Aw, that sounds cute! :D It's definitely a lot less stressful than hoarding different kinds of furniture just to fill up all that space. Seems unnecessary, really. And if I decide to abandon the challenge, I probably won't add on all the rooms, to be honest. 8x8 will most likely be as high as I go.

Wow that's a great idea actually. In my town I have this certain spot which I wish I could move a villager into, maybe I can try to make a character house to look like a villagers to patch the spot heh. Thanks for this post!

I thought about this, because in real life I loathe living in big houses, but I ended up upgrading my ACNL house because I had (and still have) far too much money to spare.

Sometimes I wish it were possibly to downgrade your house - heck, it'd be awesome if there were more house customization options overall. I'd love to have a 3 room house that had 6x6 rooms (main room, 2nd floor, and basement) but alas that's not possible in this game... Recently I saw a very cute 4x4 ACNL house though so I recently created a new character to design a very similar 4x4 house. It's extremely snug but I love it <3.
