4 deer villagers?

Aaaa all my favourite villagers are deers, and it’s making me question if 40% of my island should consist of them lol. I have Bam, Beau, and Fauna already... but I want Erik too!! For others who have a lot of the same species on your island, does it get redundant?


Update: I did end up getting Erik, and I love him! I got a super cute shot of Beau and Erik sitting together eating popsicles in the plaza lol.

The main reason I was hesitant was because of Erik and Beau both being lazies as many of you pointed out, but I don’t find that to be a problem since they’re so different aesthetically Thank you for your opinions everyone!

Nope. I'm turning my NL town into an all sheep town. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with 4 goats in NH eventually.

i have four rabbits on my island, and while i do have similar thoughts from time to time, seeing their ears sway in the wind or whenever they bob their heads honestly makes me really happy with my decision c’:

For me it gets a little boring because there's so much diversity in NH, but i see your point, deer villagers are darn cute, add diana too

I don't think it would get redundant, because despite the fact that they're the same species, they will have different dialogue options if they have different personalities. Though I do think getting Erik, when you already have Beau is where it may get a little redundant because both of them will talk about the exact same thing as they're both lazies.

I wish our villagers used dialogue or did actions that were in relation to what species they are. I mean on my island, I have all different animals, but they all speak in the same manner, with the only exception being their personality differences.

i have 3 deers on my island rn, not by any intent, but just a happy accident lol. beau, lopez and fuchsia.

i dont find them redundant at all - but i think its because they are so different in design ? the colors, the design and the difference in personality - these all make it so that i dont often think about them as being the same species. fuchsia isnt like any other villager and lopez has a definitive style that's unique and beau is just sorta a typical deer haha. when i did have fauna and beau on my island tho - it did feel a bit repetitive. something about all of them being natural looking deers changed the dynamic and i didn't find their personalities that compelling.

so i would say - maybe consider if you already find the ones you have redundant ? and if so - maybe don't. but if you like them and like having a sub section of villagers that are deer, you could even create a community for them in your town, lean into it a bit, so it looks intentional, haha. good luck

I have 3 deers, plan to have 4. I also have 2 wolves. They each have a different feel, so I like it!

I have four cats and three wolves, and it's not repetitive at all. Don't worry about personalities either, I have two of smug, normal, lazy and cranky. I feel like if you really want them, go for it!

I would only see redundancy with Beau and Erik since they both have lazy dialog... but that will happen just from there being more than one personality (which you will have anyways) on the same island.

You can always invite Erik, then you feel like there is too much neutral colored deer villagers walking around, boot him out and get someone else in.

If you like a specific species, there is no harm with having multiples of that species on your island.

At this point you might as well fully commit to it and get an all deer island Would recommend Diana as a snooty deer, she is cute and her house is so chill

My original goals was all deer! But I eventually added other cuties to my town so it’s now heavily deer and some other random species

I have 4 (soon to be 5) deer! I think they’re an adorable species and I do not mind having them all! Species redundancy doesn’t bother me as much as personality redundancy since they all have different houses and color schemes.

i had an all frog town in new leaf and i was happy with it because i love frogs. if you want it, then go for it! you can always switch them out at a later point if you want to, i don't think you even have to do the 16 villager cycle anymore if you change your mind!

If you like them a lot I don't see why it should become a problem. I have 4 cats and I'm planning on getting a 5th one, no regrets.

I say go for it. I have 3 cats and 3 squirrels right now, but will continue to get more cats as time goes on!
If you like them, I see no problem with having more than one or three of the same species.

Honestly it's more redundant to have same personalities than same species, so if you love deers you could even make an all deer island !

My final villager list is going to include four sheep, so I say go with what makes you happy! Having both Beau and Erik could get repetitive though, since they are so similar! If it ever starts to feel too repetitive for you, you can always switch them out for someone else. Maybe Diana? Or just someone with a different vibe/personality. Having diversity in personality and aesthetics is much more important for me than species diversity.

Yes, there should ALWAYS be room for AC royalty like Erik!

Although Beau and Erik do feel kind of the same. I have them both as well, but since they're my favorite species & personality, I don't mind.

I don't personally have any issue with multiple villagers of the same species. I know some people prefer variety in that area, and that's great for them, but if it doesn't bother you, there's nothing wrong with it. It's having too many of the same personality and lacking certain villager personalities that I say is taking away from the game. Even still, everyone can play the game however they like.

I have three wolf villagers (Vivian, Audie, and Fang) and I wouldn't have it any other way!

if you love them then go for it! my NL town was pretty much just cats and deer and I loved it so much, it’s your island so do what makes you happy ^^
