I am planning on getting a 3ds XL and was wondering if I would be able to transfer my animal crossing data? I know I can transfer most info but I don't plan to get a XL if I am unable to do that.

You can transfer digital, I'm pretty sure. It's a matter of switching SD cards...

I'm pretty sure you ca trasfer to digital. My brother switched over to an XL and he was able to transfer digital of other games with all data. Just be sure to use the same SD card.

I've heard that someone followed these directions and everything still got corrupted for some reason. Scary... D8 Other people trying to transfer data from SD cards have also failed.

Hm, I suggest try watching a successful video tutorial to transfer your 3ds.
o.o But the 3ds system transfer should work though.

Well it seems pretty straighforward and most likely work. The only thing I fear however, is something going wrong if I want to transfer stuff from my old 3ds SD card to my new 3ds XL sd card. On another note what color should I get?

I'm working on getting an XL (it will be blue). I have $158 in store credit at GameStop already, so I'm almost there. I was concerned about the info transfer as well, but reading this post has made me feel better about it. I have a physical copy, but I have been considering a digital copy for my XL. My daughter plays, so I was going to give her my physical copy along with my 3ds so she could have her own town instead of annoying my son in his, but I'm not sure I could get all the information from my physical copy to my digital one.

You can transfer the digital games to your new XL. I had the original 3DS, with many games downloaded (including full-games) and literally everything, right down to my Friend Code transferred to the 3DSXL. So don't worry; you can get the XL and have everything.

I don't believe you can transfer data from a physical game cartridge to a digital version if that's what you were thinking.

I did a System Transfer when I got my XL and I can assure you there is nothing to worry about.

Also there is an app on the eShop that allows you to transfer data from a physical game to a digital game, the data on the physical copy will be erased however.

As long as you have bought both a physical and digital copy, you can send save data from the physical copy and transfer it to the digital copy. C:

I've done it. Um. You will need both systems, both systems SD cards, and Internet. The transfer is in your syestem settings and it walks you through step by step. It took me more than an hour. But it's cute you watch Pikmin move all your data. It's the official Nintendo transfer thing. It will move everything.
