I bought my 3ds XL on the release date (27th July 2012, I remember this as it was also my birthday), and it's lasted me up until now, as I have just snapped it in half out of rage following a "for glory" match on super smash bros 4.

So, as the screen has literally been detached from the rest of the system, I was enquiring as to whether there would be any way that I could redownload all of my games and save files onto the new 3DS when it eventually comes out.

You should be able to transfer save data if you still have the sd card

Wow. You will probably need a new one. But boy do I wanna see pictures!

If it still works, just do a system transfer when you get a new one.

It doesn't work. The screen has completely detached, and when this happens the console doesn't even turn on anymore :I

Get a new (not the "new" 3ds, just a new XL) 3DS, and put the sd card in the new one.

You may or may not have to call Nintendo Support and have your NNID unlinked from the old one.
