3DS Friend List Error (How Long Will This Go On)?

I haven't been able to sign in to do some trades tonight.
The user I was supposed to trade with is also experiencing the same problems, so I knew I wasn't alone.
I look up the server status and both the Wii U and 3DS servers are having "technical difficulties" as of 11:17pm PT.

So I can understand this, but haven't experienced this before.
Does anyone know the average time span this usually goes on for?
Hours? Days?

I can't even add a friend code or use my internet for gaming related stuff (like visiting towns) because there's a problem with the server
