I know that Metroid's 30th anniversary was back in August, but from what I remember, there were no threads about it, and Nintendo largely ignored it.
What was your favorite game in the series in the years since it was launched in 1986? I honestly find Other M sort of underrated, but I will admit that I did have a lot of gripes with it and I never understood why, six years after Nintendo released a game that disappointed many fans, they released one that was even larger, much more massive disappointment.

i was given a snes when i was 12, which i still have and it still works. i never had a large collection of games for it sadly but i have a copy of super metroid that i played through many many times.

I love the Metroid series. My first experience with Metroid was the original game for the NES which I must admit I didn't really like. I only started getting into the series with Super Metroid for the SNES, which is my all time favorite game. Metroid Fusion, Zero Mission, Prime 1 and 2 are also great games in the franchise. Still haven't played Prime 3 though.

It really pains me to see how Nintendo treats the franchise and it's fans. No anniversary, no classic Metroid in like 13 years and turning Samus into some fan-service character. Nintendo shutting down AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake) was the final straw for me. I guess i should mention Other M and Federation Forces too but I haven't played them and I never will.

Love, love, love the Metroid series. It's a shame how awful it is treated by Nintendo, though.
