To have 2 residents playing together on one island at the same time I am assuming you need a switch.... so is that impossible to do with 2 switch lites?? Have one island? I'm assuming youd have to have 2 separate islands.... Ebay other differences could there be that I don't know about?

i mean it's impossible to live on the same island with seperate switches but you could either live on the same island using the same switch or just visit each other using local play to play together

You get one island per switch, regardless of whether they are a switch lite or not. If you have two switch lites they will have one island each.

If you want two people to live on the same island, then you have to make a switch profile for the other person and have them start playing on the same switch as you. So you only need one switch to have two more people living on the same island

One Switch
  1. Both users live on the same island.
  2. Progress in some aspects of the game is limited based on the "main user" in the island.
  3. You can play at the same time on local play, but items gathered go into the "leader" user's inventory.

Two Switch Lites
  1. Both users live on different islands.
  2. Progress on each individual island is based on each user's own individual progress.
  3. You can visit each other's islands on local play, if both switches are on and active in the "visiting" or "travelling" mode from the airport.
  4. The airport unlocks on Day 2 in-game.
  5. Items and actions taken are individual to the specific user.

i personally like the idea of two islands because you can each do whatever/decorate however/have whatever villagers you'd like on your island! when you're sharing one console, the gameplay becomes a little limited because you have to have one "main" player (island representative) that makes most of the major decisions and has most of the control. if you have two consoles, you can go visit the other island anytime, so it's pretty much the same!

it's probably much cheaper to have one console and one game though, if that is a concern at all!

Which one do you guys think is the better option... 2 islands or 1
A lot of people I have seen complain about the lacking of flexibility in the game if they share a system. Because sharing an island means that there is a "main" player and the "side" players, if the "main" player doesn't make progress on the island, any developments (like stores, etc.) are essentially lost.

If you can afford/want 2 islands, it's better than 1. If you only have 1 island, the second player does not have as much power to do things. Only the Resident Representative (which is always the first person to make a character on the island) can do certain things. But not only that, when you play together, whichever person is being the "follower" can't access their inventory or pick up anything (anything picked up will go to the recycle box in Resident Services) and has to follow the leader around. They can't walk wherever they want.

If you have 2 islands but one of you visits the other (hanging out on the same island), both players can do everything and walk wherever they want.
