I recently tried to trade villagers with someone but found myself in a snag due to having 10 villagers already (counting the one in boxes). We decided to try the void trick (something I don't know nearly enough about) and so I had them chase out their villager, then come to my town to pick up my villager in boxes.
I then went to THEIR town hoping to collect the villager from their void. It was only after I did this that I realized that a voided villager won't move in because, even without the one I just traded, I have 9 villagers in my town.
So I want to ask someone who understands the finer points of this whole "void" thing. Did I just screw myself over? Or would I be able to chase out another of my villagers and have the person's voided villager show up if I avoid street-passing with anyone or visiting another town/having my town visited?
