See I believe this to be true, when I adopt out villagers they are far from 100% Original, but they have been loved! And it doesn't take to much to fix most things back to original, and you've still gotta work at it all the time (Yes I AM talking about you Julian, Erik, DO NOT follow his lead!)

Keeping the villagers house original is no fun not to mention difficult. You literally won't be able to do tasks for them and that has been one of the staples in this game since GC, but all the same it gives you something to aim towards maintaining.
I have nooo idea how to keep my villagers original. Even if I didn't give them presents or run errands for them or trade with them or anything(and I love doing that stuff!) they still pick up catchphrases and outfits and furniture from other villagers and put their things up for sale at Re-Tail's! I like giving clothes and furniture to my villagers that matches their personality and room theme, but that's about as "original" as I make them. I wouldn't mind if anyone gave me a villager that wasn't completely original, either. They're still the same villager
