All of my efforts at keeping the cycling villagers original has got me to thinking, what is the appeal of keeping your villager 100% original. I can understand the villagers who have rare furniture like Marshal, but why the rest of them? Please understand, I'm not knocking the concept or trying to come off as an " intelligent posterior", I would really like to know.

The first ACNL game was one that I shared with my daughter. She knows that I hate Garden Gnomes... in RL and in any game... so she made tons of customized gnomes with different colour hats and gifted them to the villagers when they asked for furniture or sent them in the mail. She would always be delighted as she'd wait for me to discover them in the villagers homes when they'd ask me to visit.

I repaid her efforts by gifting everyone the skull T until everyone in town was wearing one.

In my town now I'm designing each visitors home around the theme and according to the area they live in. I think it's adding a level of fun and challenge to my interaction with the villagers and to the game.

Have you kept your villagers original?

i keep my villagers original because i can't imagine them in anything else and they look the best in it imo
unfortunately some of their homes have become a lost cause but i make sure they still look nice

Some people just like the way original houses look I suppose. Plus having random items like t-shirts and stuff in a villager's house can get annoying.

Usually villagers get furniture that doesn't fit with the theme of their room like, at all. I like to give my villagers new furniture, but only if it fits with their theme.

My villagers furniture is fairly original but their clothes catchphrase and greeting are not.

"Intelligent Posterior" lol. I really like the anecdote too :) It really depends on the villager for me. If the villager has a really nice original house (like Deirdre) then I like to leave it as it is. More often than not though a villager will have a wonky original house, so I like to customize it to a more fitting theme. It's also more rewarding that way!

I like them to be as original as possible. Before I wasn't so "picky" but after I saw how messy their home gets and random... I try to keep them original, plus I think personally they look the best this way, especially their houses. I have no problem if they have other catchphrases or greetings (that I can 'always' change) but... houses and clothing are a different thing.

Probably a good majority of my villagers are no longer original. The only houses that are completely out of whack are the villagers I've had the longest- Fuchsia and Lopez. Their houses are train wrecks. I should probably try to send them better items. :D

I'm gonna be honest: I don't really care if their houses are themed or original or whatever. I like to pretend that the villagers get bored and like to change things up from time to time, so I actually enjoy gifting them furniture and such. What I like even more is watching to see if the items will find their way back to their original owners.

I don't necessarily want to keep the houses in the original state. But I do want to keep them in a good shape. So I don't catch fish/bugs for them etc.

If I intend to keep a villager for a while, I let their home fall into disarray. I like that they can change their furniture out, and I don't blame them; I get really bored if I keep my furniture the same/in the same place, too. The only exception is Julian. I want his house to be 1000% original because I love the design of his house.

I dont keep them original at all. I give them anything they want, sometimes I try to keep with the theme of their house but usually not.

Tbf when villagers randomly gift me things I end up regifting it to another to complete favours so I can't even imagine what houses are like originally in the end XD

no I just give them whatevers in my inventory lmfao

the only thing I bother with is clothing, but I just make sure it looks good on them, idc if its original

I like to keep some original (Julian stop giving me your Regal furniture, that is for YOU!) But others I like to redesign their house to what looks nice, going to the extent of refurbishing furniture for my two wolves!

I've found when you try to keep their house original it is really hard, unless they have lots of rare items they're not willing to let go of!

I guess I don't care if they are perfectly original. What I do care about is not having a bunch of crap that looks bad in their house! WHY WONT OCTAVIAN GET RID OF THAT KIDDIE DRESSER? And Flurry has a robot lamp in her house that makes the room green and it's horrible! D:

I remember reading something, if you really liked/wanted that villager you wouldn't care what their house/clothes/catchphrase is :L
