I didn't really understand that, to be honest. One of the scenes near the end (where the lips emerged on her torso) made me think that it was about how your appearance can manipulate you and make you a separate entity to your true self, but I also think it's possible it's about how you can simply express yourself through fake lashes. I'm so confused.
