I can understand that for sure! lol The only reason why I haven't unlocked the Fortune Shop is that my schedule has been so busy for years that I am just now able to see Katrina consistently before 7PM. xD
I have heard of that method of unlocking the Fortune shop, I just feel like it is more legit to do it 10 times with your own character, but each to their own I guess. lol
