    The DLC units are almost always better.
    Also the characters are more of a bonus, mostly you buy the DLC for the items.

    It is kinda like cheating but you still have to pay for it so it's fair imo.

    ALL the DLC units (except 1) are in the bonus box, but they have different stats, abilities, and portraits. So Marth is a DLC character, and so is Ike, and Roy, and other FE characters, but they're all in the bonus box as well, but they are 2 completely different units that look the same and have the same name.

    We have been working to figure out a time. Time zones is an issue, he lives about 6 hours ahead of me.

    It's not your fault at all. They need to be responsible and know how click on a link to open a bracket. If thy get mad, it's their problem, because they're holding back the entire tournament and making people who were responsible have an agonizingly slow experience. If Inwere you I'd just give them 2 hours and just look through messages and DQ who ever seemed less active, or select someone randomly if they were about equally active.
