Silly sandwich forgot to take into account the genetic traits that are passed on from the parents. The mother and father may have the carrier gene for a longer feather, despite being male or female. As a result, poor Sneasel there has a longer feather even though it is known to only be in males, yet she has it

little did you know it is actually a male, im a pokemon vet and i made sure to verify its gender!
